Brilliantly insightful commentary, Bruce. Now if only someone could get the word out about that awful airplane food.

And the dinosaurs were telepathic, apparently.

Bruce hates eating turkey on Thanksgiving with his family and, by extension, clearly hates America. Why is this Commie Fascist Muslim garbage being printed where children can see it?!

For Bruce Tinsley, the only thing worse than having to go through these damned holiday rituals, pretending to like food you hate and people you can't stand, is those miserable jerks with no sense of the importance of our great holiday traditions who refuse to eat holiday food and attend holiday gatherings.

I don't suppose Captain Truth To Power could cite, say, one actual lie that he uncovered in his 80-90 hours of research.

Bonus points if any such lie is even half as egregious as "It's a slam dunk Saddam has WMDs".

Kip W said...

Perhaps it refers to the lies that 60 Minutes based a whole story on, told by a guy with a fake name who told his boss he was nowhere near the place where he reportedly leaped tall buildings and took out platoons of swarthy terrorists with his rifle butt. Maybe it's the lie that insurers never cancelled policies before Obamacare (which they knew about for three years, while they kept writing junk policies). Or the lie that Obama's a big spender, or that he'll take guns away, or that he's a Kenyan mole.

Frank Stone said...

OK, I'll bite -- why would Obama's "lies" make Bill Clinton love him? The only way that makes any sense at all is if Clinton wants Americans to be distracted from the seething, slavering hatred they still feel for him because he lied about his extramarital shenanigans 15 years ago, and the only people who actually feel that hatred are intellectually dishonest right-wing d-bags* with pathologically selective memories -- ooohhh, right.

And that newspaper headline is positively precious: "Lies, lies, lies, lies..." The wishful thinking that informs Bruce's warped sense of reality is in even sharper focus than usual.

On the bright side -- make that the much, much brighter side -- "Doonesbury" is back! Quite a relief; during the hiatus, the best my local paper could find to "balance" Bruce's daily idiocy was the competently-executed but forgettable "Stone Soup".

*Oh, sorry-- that's redundant, isn't it?

TUESDAY
This is clearly fantasy. Tinsley doesn't really believe other people have souls, or inner lives of any sort, apart from watching trendy pop tarts on reality TV shows and performing social duties everyone loathes. Poor wretched little puppets!

Frank Stone said...

Re Tuesday: Good grief, what a mess. Here Bruce tries to make signing up for health care under the ACA a metaphor for selling one's soul to the Devil, and in so doing reveals that he does not understand 1) how a metaphor works (an ACA customer is BUYING, not selling) or 2) how commerce works (selling something means you do NOT have the option of keeping it).

What is it like, Bruce, to still be this bad at doing your job after 20 years and still get paid for it? The rest of us can only imagine.

(By the way, Bruce, why doesn't the Devil look like Obama? That WAS the implication, after all. But then, since we've established that you don't know how a metaphor works, I guess we shouldn't be surprised.)

It's always such a trip down Memory Lane to see Tinsley start picking up and playing with the talking points from three weeks ago, usually two weeks after they've been debunked. Lucky for him he has the most uncritical audience in the world.

Frank Stone said...

Jeez, Bruce, is that all you've got? Wait -- what am I asking for? Of course that's all you've got.

And not that it matters to you and the other Fox zombies, but...
No, Obama didn't lie to you about your health care plan

Oh, and just for a little balance...
False pretenses

Frank Stone...for references that Obama did not lie to the American people you site 'Salon' and 'The Center for Public Integrity', both are far left. This is where you go to receive your political news? This says quite a lot about you.

We shall see if the voters trust your president and the Democrats in the 2014 midterm elections as much as you do.

CW in LA said...

Your president, too, Anyonytroll. Suck on that.

Also too, it's 'cite', not 'site', Anonydumbfuck.

If he's so lazy he tells the exact same "joke" twice, I can repeat myself too.

I think today's strip (Saturday) is bold and groundbreaking in the utter lack of fanfare when he shows two tom turkeys as a married couple, worried about the same ordinary crap as every other married couple. All those years he spent building up his cred with the extreme right have clearly paid off, as this amazing strip is going almost completely unremarked at the syndicate's comment page. Way to go, Tinsley!

(Rule of thumb: If a turkey has a snood, he's a dude.)

My only question now is whether he'll go for a "twerky" joke. iAy caramba!

Your blog is absolutely worth to read if anybody comes throughout it. I'm lucky I did because now I've got a whole new view of this. I didn't realize that this issue was so important and so universal. You certainly put it in perspective for me.
