That damned Gaffe

What's Mallard raving about today?

Todd Akin, Joe Biden

Joe Biden (metaphorically): unregulated financial institutions are going to put people "back in chains."

Todd Akin (literally): women's bodies have magical protection against rape sperm (at least in the case of "legitimate rape") and when that fails should be forced to carry the rapist's baby to term.

Must be the Mainstream Media's fault that one of those comments outraged people more than the other.

At least Bruce finally has a second "gaffe" he can spend years beating to death.

It's like when the local Indiana press reports on the failed cartoonist's latest DUI but TOTALLY IGNORES the guy across the street who jaywalked that one time.

Aiken committed no gaffe; he stated outright what he believes.

And what he believes is disgusting and anti-American. That's why it's newsworthy.

Also, Aiken and Ryan have nearly identical voting records in Congress, especially when it comes to attacking women. Is Ryan still running for Vice-President, or has he given up after outright lying about his marathons and mountain climbing?

The Media Research Center, you say? Well, hey, I guess that settles it, then. Todd Akin: Victim of the Mainstream Media.

So to which Biden "gaffe" are you referring, Ducky? According to you, Biden's a perpetual gaffe machine, so you must have dozens of examples from the past month alone. Are we just supposed to guess? Do tell. And by all means, explain to us how Biden's gaffe (whatever it was) compares in any way to Akin's statement that a woman can't become pregnant as a result of rape, implying that if a rape victim does become pregnant, it means she wasn't really raped.

Speaking of defending the indefensible, I can't wait to see how Mallard/Brucie defends the 16-year-old twit in Ohio who tweeted that Obama should be assassinated. (My guess is it will involve pretending to condemn what she wrote while insinuating that he thinks she was right.)

rewinn, Ryan is still running for Vice President, but admits that his campaign will probably take an hour longer than he's been saying.

Meanwhile, at False Equivalency HQ, I guess we're supposed to think that using a horrid synonym while speaking is way, way worse than the belief that any woman who gets pregnant from rape was really just cock teasing and changed her mind.

Both were covered in the rightwing press, of course. Mallard's playing the game where, if he says a gorilla was at the mall last week enough times, everybody will think they saw it.

I had no idea 'gaffe' had such a broad range of meaning: It evidently can be anything from a metaphor whose intent is shameless twisted beyond all recognition, to a statement of appalling, vicious-minded ignorance.

But I'm sure Brews just forgot to mention what these gaffes were because he didn't have the room and not out of any sort of massive intellectual dishonesty.

Waaaaaiiiiit, massive intellectual dishonesty is a cornerstone of Tinsh's oeuvre, along with lazy, drunken hackery.
