What's Mallard raving about today?
Hippies, Congressional Funding
Yet another Fillmore Foundation study reinforces the prejudice of the study's sponsor, without any facts behind it. Shocking.

Those damned Islanders
What's Mallard raving about today?
Baby Boomers.
All Baby Boomers are turning 65 this year? They were all born the same year? Well, what do you know, you learn something new every day.
Wait a second, scratch that. I already knew Mallard Fillmore was an idiot.

That damned Wheel
What's Mallard raving about today?
Baby Boomers, Education
I usually refrain from making snarky comments that could be construed as alluding to the alcohol issues of unnamed hack writers of fifth-rate propaganda scribblings. Today, however...
Can anyone name someone who has no use for (or access to) social justice, love, sex, or wheels?

That damned Talk Radio
What's Mallard raving about today?
Talk Radio, Incivility.
Excuse me? Kids?
The Republican Party has a voter identification of between 18-22% among any demographic that could reasonably be referred to as "kids."

That damned songwriter
What's Mallard raving about today?
Singer Songwriters.
4 days after a historic election, Mallard decides it's time to return to bitching about nothing in particular, just his general hatred of humanity in general and his hatred of hippies in particular.
And to do this, he posits a scenario in which scientists (the same scientists he derides constantly regarding climate change) trace an event from the future back to an event in our past.
How irrelevant is Mallard trying to be?

Those damned diapers
What's Mallard raving about today?
Adult diapers, Hippies.
We interrupt our continuing rant about the election to bring you this rant about aging hippies and adult diapers. Mallard hasn't had a good rant about hippies since last April, and adult diapers are always funny. So that explains it.

Those damned Hippies
What's Mallard raving about today?
Hippies, Folk Songs.
Mallard hates hippies and associates them with folk music. Everyone clear?

Those damned judges
What's Mallard raving about today?
The Ninth Circuit Court, San Francisco, Drug Use.
I'm really not sure why Mallard envisions a member of the Ninth Circuit Court sporting a Franz Josef, but at least now we know what it is about the Bay Area that most bothers Mallard.

Those damned Boomers
What's Mallard raving about today?
Baby Boomers.
Ahhhh! Over there! It's a former Hippie! Ahhhh!
Honestly, this pathological obsession is unhealthy, not to mention that it ignores 40 years of intervening history.
As for bringing Garry Trudeau into this mess, if I were in Mallard's place, I don't think I'd invite the inevitable comparison in a panel in which I'd included the phrase "Incontinental Breakfast."

Those damned Baby Boomers
What's Mallard raving about today?
Baby Boomers, self-absorption.
If one is capable of being inconsistently self-absorbed then, by definition, one is not actually self-absorbed.
Besides it's a bit ironic to call others self-absorbed when Mallard devoted a day to his favorite college football team's bowl result in the apparent belief that anyone else gives a damn.

Those damned Hippies
What's Mallard raving about today?
Dennis Hopper, investment companies, hippies.
Mallard appears to be appealing directly to a demographic which reflexively retains a burning grudge against hippies 40 years after the fact. Perhaps he's trying to raise his personal approval rating into the low 30's, just like President Bush, by appealing to that narrow group?
It bears noting that, in 1967, Dennis Hopper was 31 years old not, exactly the prime age for being a hippie. By 2004, Dennis Hopper was a supporter of the Republican Party (if Wikipedia can be believed).
But, Mallard, don't let any of that stop you from confusing some of Hopper's fictional characters with reality.

That damned Dennis Hopper
What's Mallard raving about today?
Dennis Hopper, rebellious rebel-types and really-cool guys.
Pretty much everything you need to know about Mallard is summed up in this panel, and I'm not talking about the rambling incoherence and the unrecognizable caricature.
Apparently Mallard believes that the members of the Sixties generation, most of whom morphed into Yuppies, went 40 years from the late 60's until now without ever holding down a job.
