Just noticed that yesterday's post was the 2,000th since I started this blog. Hard to believe I've subjected myself to that much Mallard Fillmore.
Same goes for you guys. Thanks for reading and feel free to describe how reading Mallard Fillmore this long has affected you!

How has reading Mallard affected me? I can best sum it up in the following paragraph:
I haven't had to see MF for so long, as after seeing it for a while in the early 80's, spent 23 years in other places where the paper did not have it. Then moved again in 2008, and local newspaper has it. Nothing more than the last three years of Mallard have made me see the evil in the Republicans, Fox, and TP (although some now in Congress come close).

I am quite sure that reading Mallard destroys brain cells.
So, Davey, my thanks to you and all your regulars for doing something to restore at least some of those cells.
"Mallard Fillmore" puts the "pit" in "pity".
"Duck and Cover" is, for me, a warm-up writing exercise. Can I read something and write a relevant response in a very short time? Sometimes I succeed, sometimes I fail, but the little community here is always supportive, and usually funnier than me.
And who knows? "Maybe the horse will sing" and maybe Tinshley will learn how to be funny without being cruel and stupid.
That explains the hollow, soul-crushing nothingness I've been feeling in my soul lately...
Congratulations! We haven't usually seen eye-to-eye on politics, but we share a healthy disdain for Tinsley's nonsense. I appreciate your efforts and frequently chuckle at your comments and those of the regulars, even when they're painting all conservatives as uncaring idiots. (Many of them are, after all.) I continue to hope that right thinking liberals and conservatives can agree on certain bedrock issues crucial to the survival of our country, such as a shared horror at the new Defense Appropriations Act's provisions for the indefinite detention of American citizens. As usual, Glen Greenwald says it best:

Sorry for the slightly off-topic post, but it's hardly likely the duck will ever concern himself with this issue!
