And isn't it funny how Obama is somehow responsible for everything bad that happened before he took office (like the economy), but Bushbaby is somehow responsible for everything good that happened after he left office (like killing bin Laden)?
@Frank Stone: Yeah. It's kind of like how the good economy under Clinton is to be credited to Reagan and Poppy and the bad economy under Shrub is to be blamed on Clinton. I've said it before (maybe even here), and someday I'll say it in a letter to the editor: when Republicans claim to be the party of personal responsibility, what they mean is that the Democrat [sic] Party is personally responsible for anything bad that happens in MERIKA NUBBER WUN!
Hey, DaveyK, congratulations on "Duck and Cover" being one of the blogs available in the new Google Currents app for Android!
Now, as to Tinsley...
"Given current trends"? You must be talking about trends in Fox's unemployment rate graphics, because the actual unemployment rate has been trending down for the past five months.
They're not fixated on Clinton. They'll blame Carter for stuff that happened recently, and also LBJ, JFK, and FDR. Truman — who they hated when he was in office — is now an Honorary Republican as long as they can ignore stuff he actually said and did.
Anyway, I'm sure that even with 99% unemployment, the people who really matter — the job creators! — will continue to post record profits to their offshore accounts. I'm a "glass 1% full" kind of guy.
ps: Good god, what crappy lettering (numbering?) in what is the centerpiece of today's strip. Pro tip for Tin Eye: It's okay to pencil before you ink! And if you don't know what a number looks like, go find a visual reference to copy from.
Also, vary your art a little, and start drawing the duck from the back. Thank you.
High unemployment depresses wages and therefore increases corporate profits. So Randroids applaud 99% unemployment; today's punchline is a boast, not a complaint.
He's only one thought away from realizing that the economy is affected by factors other than how shiftless people are, and how Kenyan the president is.
Alas, that's one thought more than he's capable of.

That's strange...according to current wrong-wing talking points, that would mean that 99% of us "made bad decisions."
You know, like when a child has to go to school hungry, or gets sick without decent affordable medical care because it chose the wrong parents?
This is what happens when you get all your news from Fox, which pretends that unemployment numbers are going up even when they're going down.

There's the semblance of a joke here, even though (as Frank Stone points out) the unemployment rate has been falling lately.
A lot of people being out of work makes me laugh. Amirite?

I think we're oversimplifying Fox's outlook here!

Kip, I've said it before and I'll probably say it again: will that internets be carry-out or delivery?
(Oh, and thanks for actually saying what I only clumsily hinted at.)
The reichwing has one hope: keep cutting jobs and blaming Obama.
Y'all are misunderstanding today's "comic".
