What's Mallard raving about today?
Coins
Whenever I think Mallard Fillmore can't get more stupid, more wrong, it always turns out I am the one who is wrong.
First of all, though not mentioned here, apparent Vice President Biden said "Nobody wants these things, and if they don't want them, we shouldn't keep making them." Interesting that Mallard is quoting/agreeing with Biden, and yet does not have the guts to admit it.
Those of you with enough of an attention span to read beyond that first paragraph may also notice that Mallard is completely wrong and that, in fact, demand for the coins was quite high, almost 15% above projections. Mallard Fillmore: wrong. Again.
I find no evidence to substantiate Mallard's claim that they charged more for the Chester A. Arthur coins, so that fact appears to be, unsurprisingly, complete fiction.
Additionally, Mallard's claim that lack of demand is the reason said fictional price increase took place is ascribing fictional motives to a fictional event. So, you know, we're really moving into previously unimaginable dimensions of falsehood here.
And yet, if we took his claims about pricing at face value, the U.S. Government charged more and sold more, bringing to 14,000,008 the reasons why Mallard Fillmore doesn't know anything about anything, least of all business, and should not be listened to on any subject.

Is Tinsley seriously calling for the installation of private militias instead of controlled armies mere days after his friends won 10% of the vote in Greece?
Word Verification: Arnmistio erricht, the army Tinsley is helping his Greek friends build.
Batshit, if our government operated like a business, with maximum profit being the key and only concern, you would have been born into debt slavery and your broken corpse would have already been stripped of organs and sold to a dog food manufacturer.
Because it's only that damned big government that keeps big business and its corporate personhood from doing just that to everyone. They get away with murder as it is and still complain that they're treated unfairly; what do you honestly think they'd do with absolutely no restraint?
Whoops; I just suggested you think. My bad.
Look, Tins, if you hate America so much, do It. Go Galt on us. You're a creator; deprive the compromised world of your grace. That'll show us.
Very good, Little Brucey! A government is NOT a business!
Here, let me put this smiley-face sticker on your forehead. No, just trust me, I promise the sticker has a smiley face on it.
The George W. Bush presidential coin was put on hold when they couldn't get the exact right shade of plastic.
Sure, Brews, dollar coins costing a few millions more than expected is exactly why our debt is as high as it is. Long, stupid, pointless wars and revenue giveaways to the stinking rich have nothing to do with it.
Say, Tinsh, how well would a business do operating under the principle of "penny wise, trillions of pounds foolish" fare?

What an extraordinarily stupid statement, when it's big government under Bush/Obama which has not only NOT gone after the banksters who robbed us of trillions, but who appoint them and their buddies to almost every top administration position!
Surprising to see that Anonyrast agrees that there should be more government oversight and regulation of private enterprise, not less.
Interesting: Is this Anonypaulbearer, or do we have a new troll, Anonyfirebagger?
At first I thought Brucie's colorist didn't know what a coin looks like, but then I remembered that there are "color-enhanced" variants of the presidential dollar coins. He/she still got it wrong, though, because the color coins have a blue background and a gold edge.
Run, colorist. Run as fast and as far as you can. Clearly, Brucie's incompetence and carelessness are rubbing off on you. Save yourself before you too become irredeemably worthless.
And a pineapple would fail at being a fish; what the hell's your point, Bruce?

That's the part you clipped off when you quoted me, Anon. Golly, I wonder why.
But thanks for pointing out that government is corrupt, sport. Next up: Sky is blue! Booger sticky!
If not the Big Bad Fed, then who or what keeps The Corporate Steamroller from running roughshod over us all, Anon? Local militia? The Church? Batman? The Kindness of Human Nature? Rand Accidents Happen La-La-La Paul? Educate my stupid ass.
Ah, so it IS Anonypaulbearer, then: Blatantly dishonest editing one of his things.
Tinsley as a CEO: "Here's why the company's $1.6B in debt — it's this shipping clerk taking an extra five minute break after lunch! (For finding this out, I deserve another big bonus!)"
Putting to one side the abuse and childish name-calling which passes for argument here, the response to the comments above is, "Nothing keeps the Corporate steamroller from running over us. It's been running over us and will continue to do so as long as we imagine there's any perceptible difference between D and R in corporate boot-licking ability."
10 seconds of reseach reveals that the coins cost more because they are no longer sold for face value at a bank, but only at a premium.
In other words, the gummit is trying to make more of a profit by eliminating their low-profit distribution channels. This is basic, basic business: don't sell your stuff for less if you can sell it for more (...and the cost of storage is low ... coins are BTW small and imperishable.)
Conservatives don't really understand business. Add that topic to national security as something now owned by the Party Of The Left.

@Anonymous: Ah, the trusty ol' glibertarian "everyone is equally corrupt...except MY guy!!" routine. That never gets (anything but) tiresome.
So there are absolutely no government regulations or services that protect you? None whatsoever? You walk outside, and it's totally Mad Max everywhere?
I don't know where you live, but maybe you should move.
Or maybe you could stop dragging the goalposts up and down the field, pull your drama-queen head out of your rear end, and grow up.
(Oh my goodneth! I'm being THO unthivil!)
Dammit, I wish this article had gone up yesterday: World O'Crap takes a peek at Anonymous' idea of Glibertarian Paradise without Evil Ol' Government, through the eyes of one John Stossel.
You know it's a hoot.
"Everybody's equally gilt-y, so just stay at home this election season!"
(And of course he spends Just As Much time saying this at the rightwing sites, eh?)
