SUNDAY
Talking about yourself is this horrid thing liberals do. Bruce got more than enough of that at that AA meeting he attended.

One speech Brews Tinkley will never have to give: "I accept this award ..."

A strip that's homophobic, misogynist, makes fun of people with mental illnesses, and about something everyone else forgot about weeks ago! With no discernible punchline! He's hit the quadrifecta! Here's your welfare check, lazy asshole lightning dick!

Rod. Lightning rod. Hey, honest mistake.

Wait, I get it now--PURGE DALY SHE GOT WUNNA THEM EATING DISORDERS THAT'S SO HILARIOUS. Maybe you could give her a boyfriend named Drunken Welfare Hack.

A) The Oscars are NEXT Sunday- so, timely as ever;
B) The occasional political moment in the Oscars nowadays is usually by the recipients, not the presenters (like Jodie Foster "sort-of"coming out after being presented a lifetime achievement award at the Golden Globes, NOT the Oscars), and that's because;
C)Oscar presenters almost NEVER write their own material. Occasionally thy'll let a comedian write a bit for themselves, or let them kibitz on it, but there's actually a staff of writers working on those speeches.

But, otherwise, great job, Bruce!

MONDAY

"....And don't worry, no old men were forced to apologize after I shot them in the face."

Kip W said...

Every time Tinsley draws Obama, his 'photo reference' is the previous drawing, so he gets farther and farther from being identifiable as any living human being.

Meanwhile, Tinsley continues a hard-hitting series of cartoons that all boil down to "Oh YEAH? Like FUN!"

I'm good with it. Any day he doesn't draw the duck, we've dodged the equivalent of a big splat on the windshield.

When all you have is complaining that the President truthfully answered "yes" when asked if he'd ever shot a gun ... you got nuthin!

Andrew said...

You know this is going to last all week, right? This was the big FOX News bugaboo two weeks ago, so, naturally, Bruce assumed it would still be news now.

So I don't have to state it when the inevitable "why didn't we ever see pictures of him shooting skeet before' strip hits, here's the answer-

BECAUSE A SHOT OF OBAMA WITH A GUN WOULD BE IMMEDIATELY USED BY CONSERVATIVE ASSHATS IN PHOTOSHOPPED IMAGES SHOWING HIM POINTING IT AT THE CONSTITUTION, OR THE FLAG, OR WHATEVER OTHER IDIOCY THEY COULD DREAM UP.

Since Brews is apparently planning to spend a whole week on this, do you suppose at some point he might mention why the hell anyone should give a crap?

Not that I really feel great about defending anything from Tinz, but the release of the skeet shooting photo and all the associated public pronouncements is at least something worthy of ridicule.

I would ridicule the photo release as the administration "feeding the trolls" of Fox News/right wing noise machine.

Tinz, as his programming dictates, chooses instead to ridicule the POTUS as a big fat liar, becuase everything he says is a big fat lie, causing visible flames to shoot out of his pants, and also nanny nanny boo boo, stick your head in doo doo.

Should Tinz get half credit for accidentally, incorrectly displaying distaste for something reasonably distasteful? No, probably not.

I try to distance myself from the partisan schoolyard taunting that dominates much of the mass media conversation because it depresses the crap out of me. Sometimes, coming to D&C and applying humor helps to sooth some of the bad mojo. I wish I had a strategy for people in real life who espouse this madness (other than avoiding conversation or biting my tongue).
I'm a pretty non confrontational guy.

Do any of you fellow duckers and coverers have any thought on this?
Don't want to highjack this, but this "community" displays empathy and reason that comforts me.

@Toots - when we as a nation can spend hours of time worrying over whether our President shoots skeet, then truly are we not blessed?

There's nothing wrong with mocking a leader on any subject what-so-ever; it's the substitution of fake scandal for serious analysis that makes today's reichwing so useless.

Toots McGee said...

@Randy - if it weren't for subsitution of fake scandal for serious analysis, there would be no Mallard Fillmore. But if there weren't a Mallard Fillomore, we wouldn't be here.

I guess my thoughts are that I'm a little disheartened that the Obama admin felt they had to respond with the picture to begin with. Of course we know the reaction is going to be silly (yet still elevated to prominence by "the news"). I've been very disheartened by it all of late and the merry go round is getting boring. I'm losing hope.

Frank Stone said...

It's entirely possible that the release of the skeet-shooting photo, like the release of Obama's birth certificate before it, was deliberately calculated to get precisely the reaction we've seen out of the foamy-mouthed Obama-haters, thus tricking them into exposing their raving, shit-stained lunacy all by themselves and once again revealing the Republican party to be the boarding house for paranoid, racist looneytunes it's always been.

once again revealing the Republican party to be the boarding house for paranoid, racist looneytunes it became when the Dixiecrats defected to it in the sixties.

Fixed that for you, Frank.

WEDNESDAY

C'mon, Bruce! It's right there!

What are the noises guns make? BANGS! What does Michelle Obama have? BANGS! The lame, pointless, who-cares joke that isn't funny on something everyone else forgot about 3 weeks ago of your dreams is right there! I hope that saves you 85-90 hours of research, welfare queen who hasn't done an honest 10 minutes of work in 15 years!

Somehow this reminds me more of Bush than Obama.

...Anon, your light's too bright to be hidden under a bushel. Now watch this drive.

"Yes, I love to shoot at SKEET all the time, which of course I love to do, as is my want, and in so loving it as I do, I enjoy doing it all the time, being that it is something that I enjoy so much and in so much as I love the shooting of SKEET, that being the past time that I thoroughly enjoy doing and don't mind sharing with the world the shooting of SKEET. Is Supermodel Purge Daily here, reporting for Made Up Network? Perhaps Supermodel Purge Daily would like to file a report on my enjoyment of the shooting of SKEET, which of course I love to do, as is indicated by this hat that I have been wearing all week. Supermodel Purge Daily, what do you think of my hat, my SKEET shooting hat?

THURSDAY
I clicked on the Zoom button for the first time today, and it seems likely Tinsley draws at a size smaller than what we see on the screen.

My theory on what's going on: Tinsley knows from experience that there's a porn site with "skeet" in the name, and seeing the word coming from Juju Fetish Obama makes him laugh so hard he's had to change his underwear twice in one week.

It's almost like America's reichwing is playing some demented form of political limbo ... how low can they go? How meaningless can they get?

Well, as long as they can use the House to crash the recovery, the Supreme Court to sell elections to the highest bidder, and state governments to send women back to the coat hanger ... I guess the Civil War is still on, and the South's Economic Model is winning

Toots McGee said...

Hmmm, what approach might Brucie use to freshen up this "joke" after beating it to death all week?

What unique perspective would add some spice to this boiled turnip of a concept?

There must be a new framing device that can breathe some life into blathering Strawbama.

How about the duck watching it on tv?

Brilliant!

Andrew said...

Holy crap, he actually did continue this one all week.

I'm tempted to do a search to find out if there were ANY other stories he could have "covered" 2-3 weeks ago, but I have to get to work.

Frank Stone said...

Yes, Bruce, we get it: You think Obama's a phony! A BIG, FAT PHONY!!

Unfortunately for you, Right-Wing Fantasy Obama's™ understanding of guns is still superior to your understanding of reality.

Mallard Filmore continues an intelligent contribution to the national debate about rising gun violence and methods to reduce it, thought provoking and sensitive to the losses suffered by the people of Newtown and elsewhere.

Just kidding.

Apparently, this (Mallard) the best they can come up with on the wrong-wingers side of the issues.

Does Obama use performance-enhancing drugs when he skeets?

Kip W said...

SATURDAY
Tinsley doesn't need drugs! He's high on booze.

SUNDAY
I hit the 'refresh' button like they said, but the strip is still stale and musty.
