What's Mallard raving about today?
Wow! This Sunday "comic" really hits a HOT-BUTTON ISSUE in a way that will INFURIATE LIBERALS!No wonder conservatives won in the shutdown! Wowser!(BTW for any cartoonist unable to come up with a commentary on the shutdown, here are a few ideas of my own - you can use them!)
He's such a lightning rod for controversy! I guess this is going to get him a bunch of angry letters from guys on tiny little islands with single palm trees on them!
MONDAY: Mallard promises to show us a picture of Congress but shows us a picture of the Capitol instead.Drawing people is too hard!
Hey, Bruce, you do know which party in Congress is taking the biggest hit in poll numbers, right? In 2 weeks, expect a strip claiming "POLLS MEAN NOTHING!" and/or "FASCIST LIBERAL MEDIA SKEWS POLLS!"
Since Mallard's report is appearing on a TV show (because he's a TV reporter), shouldn't the choice of on-screen graphics have been made by "producers" rather than "editors"? I guess Mallard is confused (again) and speaking in newspaper terms because he still suffers from the delusion that he's a journalist.
Ha ha! That Miley Cyrus sure is unpleasant! Hoo boy, she's worse than Hemorrhoids, I tells ya!Here are two hot button issues that deserve multiple day exposure:Miley CyrusHemorrhoids
Aww, c'mon Duckie, you didn't give the full title: "Worse than Hemorrhoids... But still better than Mallard Fillmore."
At least there's an over-the-counter remedy for hemorrhoids. Would that one could say the same about the stupidity and incompetence that permeates "Mallard Fillmore".
Tinsley was wise to label his drawing clearly.
Miley Cyrus is a good metaphor for the Tea Party - kinda cute at one time, but gone all weird and self-destructive. That's prolly why Brucie drew this "comic" at the height of the Tea Party Government Shutdown---(I also wasted a little time going to the Mallard Fillmore blog, where he posted the fact that he ... wait for it ... drew a caricature of Miley Cyrus.Whew! that, my friends, is some edgy material!!!111
WHINESDAY - Brews Tinkley complains that unemployed people don't get enough media attention ... which is true ... as a commentary on the government shutdown ... which he seems to think would continue to October 23 ... wrong again!Perhaps if the House would pass a jobs bill instead of grandstanding on Obamacare, both problems could have been solved. But solving problems is not what today's GOP is about.
FRIDAYAdd "bumper sticker users" to your enemies list, Duckies! I guess Tinsley's had some sort of bad experience that's made it necessary to declare anyone who puts his opinion out there on the Enemies of the State roster. And all you faithful readers of the strip, don't go reading that list! And don't ask me why, either. Just do as you're told, as always. And be sure and hate those authoritarian liberals!
I'd speculate that he got caught in traffic behind a car with bumper stickers. But Brews lives in Indiana: They have traffic?
Several years ago, I found myself driving behind a pickup truck which bore the following bumper stickers:THE NEXT TIME YOU THINK YOU'RE PERFECT, TRY WALKING ON WATERONLY HALF THE PATIENTS WHO GO INTO AN ABORTION CLINIC COME OUT ALIVEGUN CONTROL MEANS USING BOTH HANDSNo doubt Mallard would have honked his horn in solidarity.
SATIRE DAY (just kidding)So, we've noticed that the government was shut down! Thousands out of work. Disease control centers closed. Police working for free. Parks closed. Years-long scientific experiments forcibly abandoned. How to deal with something like that?Well, just imply that they're all lazy slackers, greedily sucking at the government teat! That'll show that stupid reality!
