I would really enjoy seeing Ducky explain why, if his creator is this fearless Speaker Of Truth To Power who has NObama quaking in his boots, and if NObama controls the media, why these same media carry his mighty cartoon. Probably take several pints of Research to come up with an explanation for that.

Or, he could just poop out some nonsensical scribbling involving dinosaurs.

Re Monday: Let me see if I'm interpreting this entry correctly (always a sticky proposition with this miserable mess of a strip): Mass killers are looking for fame and attention, which the media give them, and the Obama administration controls the media, therefore mass killings are Obama's fault.

Because, of course, mass killings never happened before January 20, 2009. And neither did anything else, for that matter.

Now, Frank, don't exaggerate! It's not that nothing at all happened before 1/20/2009. It's that nothing bad happened before then. Sure, there were wars, but they were good wars. There was debt, but it was good debt — not like the horrid debt we have now, that comes from do-gooding and poor-helping freedom stompers! There were drones (good), there was phone tapping (swell), but it was all the good old GOP kind, which helps people the best by doing nothing and making a profit at the same time.

I wondered if our BFF Bruce would have something topical to say about the shutdown today... but that would involve doing work, you know, promptly rather than sticking with his usual comfy month-or-so lead time.

Oh, sure, other political cartoonists will tell you you have to be current to be relevant, that you simply can't pen your strips a month in advance like you were writing Garfield. But that's a lot of work, requiring you to stay continuously informed on current events, and sometimes turn around a completely new strip in a matter of hours... and Bruce didn't become an affluent, successful Maker just so he could work hard for a living, thank you very much.

But I'm sure we'll see a really incisive quip (totally not stolen from a 1996 Doonesbury!) in, oh, three to five weeks.

Now we're back to misrepresenting what educators do, putting words in the mouth of the evil administrator (the stupid person's notion of what a smart guy looks like) that they never said. The letters, sent by school dietitians, inform parents when their child is at or above the 95th percentile of weight for their age.

"Fat letters" are what the kids in school call them, though, which makes it entirely unsurprising that Tinsley would use the term.

Kip W said...

And it would go without saying, in a sane world, that the letters are so that parents can make informed choices for the health of their kid, but of course Tinsley chooses to see them as hectoring badges of shame.

Good thing they didn't have Drunk Letters back in the day, eh Brews?

By the way, here's a tip for folks using the GoComics commenting software. If you have a sign-in there and use it, you have the power to edit your posts. Even after they've been up a while, you can fix typos, rather than letting them go or posting again to say what you really meant.

Would that Tinsley could (or would) edit his woeful propagander. (Did you know that the German word for propaganda translates to 'black and white painting'? It's a lovely language in many ways.)

Re Saturday: Kinda like this, you mean, Bruce? Or maybe this?

Bruce doesn't accept YOUR facts. They're liberal facts. They have liberal cooties AND fact cooties.

USA! USA!!
