That damned Sea Bass

What's Mallard raving about today?

Al Gore, Chilean Sea Bass, Live Earth.

That's more like it. Classic Mallard: up is down, black is white!

Live Earth engages 2 billion people between TV, Internet, Radio, and Mobile.

Mallard calls that a "flop."

Al Gore goes to a restaurant which serves a tasting menu which includes Chilean Sea Bass--a species that is not listed as threatened or endangered but which are illegally over fished. That said, the fish at the restaurant were "not endangered or illegally caught...[and came] from one of the world's few well-managed, sustainable populations of toothfish, and caught and documented in compliance with Marine Stewardship Council regulations."

Mallard, who isn't even imaginative enough to do the dirty work himself, simply carries water for Matt Drudge's rumor mongering to suggest Al Gore served a threatened species to wedding guests.

You must be so proud.

The "Look! (liberal cause event) is a FLOP! HAR HAR HAR!" meme is popular with the tiny-brained; a recent Letter-To-The-Editor in my local recyclable brayed that SiCKO wasn't making as much money as Ratatouille, and therefore...uh...er...HAR HAR HAR!!!1

(Because you know a movie's validity and accuracy of message is determined by its box office.)

What tickled me about that was, the same argument was used when Fahrenheit 911 was in theaters; Michael Moore's documentary wasn't making as much money as the current blockbuster Pixar family film, and therefore it FAILED FAILED FAILED. That's a perfect idiot's argument.

I would counter that SiCKO is outgrossing Evan Almighty in per-theater receipts. Does God therefore not exist? Ah, but asking questions like that would make me "unhinged."

...Wow, Tinny's completely given up on the caricatures, huh?

The drawing of the fish reminds of some fish on a recent episode of the Simpsons - the only thing it's used for is oil for stripper poles, "Finally something even I wouldn't eat!"

Why did the fish take up the whole damn strip? Why is it crosseyed? It needs a third eye.

billywitchdoctor - nobody's said that in my paper yet, they're actually talking about the message of the movie, not whether it's a success a not.

And SiCKO won't be as big a success as any Pixar film, no movie should be compared to Pixar unless it's a shoddy animated one that is just so similar, but not. (Think Finding Nemo and Shark Tail)

SiCKO will make less money than most movies, because it's not playing at every theater. Or even more than one. Here, it's only playing at one theater.

As for Mallard, he has no moral values or concrete views, except for how much liberals suck and how evil we are.

No values, no hypocrisy!

I notice he's given up on being 2 weeks behind - Live Earth happened July 7, he's more than 4 weeks behind now!

And he'll do this until he's a couple months behind the attorney general's memory lapses. By pointing out that Democrats do bad things, too. And what they do is worse than what Republicans do.

I'm shocked that Tinshley has thus far left Gore's son alone. Perhaps, given his own troubles, there are some kettles he won't call black? I'm having trouble imagining it, but I guess it's possible.

And Gore's daughter should have had duck on the menu.

Tinshley went after Al Gore's son last week:

Wow, this wedding menu was grossly underreported! How can you compare something like a concert to something as important as this menu?

Seriously, why does he hate music so much? Is it because it's the language of the soul? Does music remind him too much of his nemesis, Tom Petty? Or is he just a hate-filled drunk who can't even hear the radio over the sound of his sobbing?

I stand corrected. Serves me right for being out of town that day.

I love it that he's cited the Drudge Report. This is a great example of the right wing echo chamber in effect. Does he think we don't know who Drudge is?

"the media" underreported Al Gore's daughter's wedding menu! What a scandal!

If only this comic strip that's in the newspaper every single day were somehow allowed to be part of "the media"... THEN this heinous crime would no longer be "underreported"!

Finally everyone would be discussing what Al Gore's daughter served at her wedding, instead of the war and all that stuff.

That's either a horrible caricature of Al Gore, or that's Rodney Dangerfield telling the joke.

I also like how he cites Drudge, because I constantly look for opportunities to properly use the term "ironic". Since citing sources is supposed to lend credibility to your facts, I'm very appreciative of Tinsley's ironic citation!
