That damned Candidate

What's Mallard raving about today?

Governor Walker, 2012 Election.

Republicans really are easily impressed, aren't they? And select their national candidates with great care and deliberation, latching onto the latest shiny object Fox dangles in front of them.

Tinsley's "winning" streak for picking GOP "winners" continues unbroken.

And by "winning," I mean "complete and utter fail."

Start your own run for the office, Tinsley. Remember your platform: "Anything that bothers liberals must perforce therefore be good!" Be sure and take out a lot of loans. These things take moneyu.

Scott Walker for President? Couldn't Tinsley find someone less popular? Like, Oh I don't know, Satan?

Credit where credit is due for having a semblance of the anatomy of a joke. This strip has both a setup and a punchline, and even a little wordplay.

It's a lame joke and entirely dissociated from reality, but credit nonetheless.

"Say, this guy's suddenly become wildly unpopular with the regular folks I supposedly draw my strip for. He'll be PERFECT in my quixotic quest to unseat that uppity Negro! I think I'll order a double research to celebrate!"

Why doesn't Drinkie pan down to reveal the billionaires holding up the signs?

Palin leaves the country for a few days to get the mandatory blessing from the Likud leadership (aka the real bosses of the GOP and Dems) and this is how Tinsley reacts! no loyalty.

Hey, Tinsley, if you love Scott Walker so much, why don't you marry him???

(oh, right...)

Wow -- a lie (it's only liberals who want Walker recalled) AND a claim that's utterly disconnected from reality (there are widespread demands that Walker run for president)! Brucie better be careful he doesn't burn himself out with all this squeezing of multiple talking points into one strip!

Sorry -- burn himself out MORE.

For his running mate, how about another homophobic, common-people-hating billionaire right wing lunatic who'll soon be out of work? He's currently holed up in Tripoli...

Oh, right right, brown scary Muslim not white scary Christian fundie, that rules him out. Another choice would be...hmm, is General Pinochet still dead? Given the brain status of the last Republican veep candidate, Bruce might think it a plus.

I don't get it.

Plenty of people run for president and don't quit their jobs - McCain's still a senator. Palin's just a flake.

Or does he think anyone would actually elect Walker besides the Koch brothers?

If the people who don't like Walker are liberals, then most of Wisconsin is liberal.

Which may be true: Walker has turned the police and firefighters into bastions of "liberalism", which is kinda amazing really.

I really do hope Walker runs for president (even with Koch money, he'll wouldn't carry Wisconsin) but I do worry that with enough billions behind them, the fascists could get elected anything that can wear a suit. I suspect this is part of why Obama is such a corporatist: a real liberal would unite the Aristocracy against him

P.S. if there is anyone from Wisconsin here, remind them to vote in the April 5 Wisconsin Supreme Court race. Walker's boy there is named Prosser, a guy who was never a judge before being named to the court a few years back, and may be best known for coming out and saying that just because someone gives you a whole lotta money, that doesn't mean you have to recuse yourself from his case. I got links about that here

rewinn - Exactly so about the president. I don't know who said that the fundamental difficulty driving the Democratic Party's ineffectual dithering is the difference between the people who vote for them and the people who finance their campaigns. But whoever said it is right.
