That damned Robin

What's Mallard raving about today?

Robins, Spring, Florida, Brazil

Mallard, we're not mind-readers. And we don't get the daily Right Wing nontroversy talking points memo.

You have to try to make at least some sense to the 75% of the population that are not raving Right Wing conspiracy lunatics (aka Teabaggers).

I think he's bitching about the weather; "at least here in Florida" suggests Winter is still raging elsewhere (two weeks ago), and the bird is fleeing for warmer climes.

Confusion is only natural, because we're not used to Tinsley vomiting up something genuinely apolitical, and because the subjects of climate and migration are well-worn wrong-wing dog whistles. You expect some ignorant blather about IT SNOWD SO AL GOR WORNG HURF HURF or DEY TUK OR JEHBS!!!1, not "I'm leaving the country because America sucks now."

But yeah, it's a total fail regardless. THIS IS A SUNDAY STRIP. And Tinsley STILL does five hack-job almost-identical "talking head" panels. It was garbage when "Boondocks" did it, and it's garbage here.

At least Aron McGruder has a measure of talent. I think Tinsley is, here, giving up on being the "right wing Doonesbury" and has decided to try to draw a strip that makes even less sense than Zippy the Pinhead. The trouble is that, like the aformentioned McGruder, Bill Griffith has a (very large) measure of talent, and is able to present a certain skewed logic to his nonsense.
Tinsley, however, is as good a writer and he is an artist. More's the pity.

I don't see why we should work harder analyzing today's "comic" than Tinshley did in putting it together.

1. Five almost identical crappy drawings of a bird
2. Incoherent raving probably related to the idea that winter was bad this year and therefore global warming is a hoax

On the plus side, Prickley City managed to be as stupid as Mallad Fillmore this week, actually drawing Wisconsinites as goofy-looking people with googly eyes and cheese hats. Man! for people who claim to represent "real Americans" it sure does seem that conservatives have absolutely no idea that real Americans support Winconsin teachers.

Why Brazil?

"Why Brazil?"

Analyzing it in terms of an Einsteinian-Riemannian space-time manifold, it might be a reference to Glenn Greenwald, who lives in Brazil much of the year.

I think we should stop saying that Bruce is the laziest person in comics today. He at least has to spend 3 minutes scribbling this crap. His editor, however, clearly doesn't even open the envelope the strip came in to read it to see if it's coherent.

Actually, the strip might be improved if the GOP would hand-feed Tinsley some daily Humor Points. I think that this is an attempt at wacky, non-topical humor, and it's a pretty clear that he's worse at it than he is at catapulting the proper gander.

I did a Google search for "Brazilian citizenship" hoping to see what the latest Teabagger talking point is (thinking it might be related to Obama's recent trip to South America). My seach came up empty. I have no fucking idea what Tinsley is bleating about in this "comic", in other words, it's Sunday.

Sorry, Steve-O, but that only narrows it down to a day ending in 'y'.

Doesn't Brazil have a somewhat liberal, environmentally conscious government? As such, I interpreted this cartoon's point, if one can be attributed to it, as: Dumm librul burds, hur hur hur.

Otherwise the subtlety and rapier-like wit just completely escapes me.
