That damned Strike

What's Mallard raving about today?

Taxpayers, Unions

Well, that depends...

If you're a member of a Union, you go on strike when your Union does so as part of collective bargaining.

If you're not a member of a Union, you can go on strike anytime you like, but you'll probably end up getting fired since you have no leverage.

If you're a talentless hack who gets paid to echo Right Wing talking points, pretty much every day is like being on strike, except that you get paid for not doing work.

Gosh golly gee, Bruce, I'm still waiting for you and the rest of the Randists to "go Galt" on us.

Do it.

Please.

Where can I get one of those "Taxpayer" shirts? They look awfully fashionable.

Yeah, pretty much. I was going to say "You get to go on strike when you join one of those unions you've been taught (by those whose economic well-being* depends on disorganized workers) to despise and revile. Funny how that works."

*Oddly enough, their self-interest actually goes 180 degrees against yours, yet they've convinced you of the opposite.

I think the idea is that they want to go on strike from paying taxes 'cause GRRR PUBLIC WORKERS. Notice the moronic assumption that those public workers are not themselves taxpayers.

You ever wonder what Tinshley says at a parent-teacher conference?

You know, the ones held in the evening, so parents can attend? As part of a teacher's typical 10-hour no-overtime-pay workday?

"You're a lazy union thug! You need a pay cut!"

Hi, I'm Bruce Tinsley, and I don't understand the fundamentals of how things work. Please, enjoy my nonsense rants.

Please! Oh please God! Save me from these historically low tax rates! I'm drowning under a sea of low taxes!

Read a fucking book Tinsley.

Steve-O, if Tinsley ever read a book, he'd have to thank a teacher. He'll just sprawl like an oaf in front of the tube, thank you very much.

Wait, who's been on strike? There's been massive protest rallies at the Wisconsin Capitol and elsewhere, and unions have confirmed that job actions have been under consideration, but as far as I'm aware nobody anywhere had walked off the job as of the publication date.

Not that that's stopped some conservative outlets from conflating "rally" with "strike".

Good catch! Maybe three weeks ago the betting was that they'd be on strike by now?
