What's Mallard raving about today?

Compact Fluorescent Bulbs.

Exactly! Who can be bothered to wait 15 seconds? Has anyone ever asked for so much sacrifice? Never, it's the worst thing in the history of the world.

Let's go back to gas lamps!

By the way, what happened to complaining that CFLs were going to kill us all?

I'm STILL waiting for Tinsley to achieve marginally normal brightness, and it's been years.

"Doublin' down? That's for pussies! I quadtreble down!! Like a true idjit! Hurp hurp durp!"

Oh no, the steering wheel of that guy's Tata Nano appears to have fallen off.

I hope the handsome leather-bound owner's manual that came with the car includes instructions on how to handle that situation.

WTH? Obviously the duck hasn't even tried a CFL in recent years. The ones I got come on instantly, have a range of color temperatures to choose from, and are just as bright as the incandescent bulbs that use about 5 times the electricity.

Also obvious: the duck must have seen someone on TV complaining about efforts to ban bulbs that are not as energy efficient.

You know, I have CFLs in my house. Have for years. I have never once thought "hey, why aren't the lights bright enough yet?" Is this even actually a thing, or is Bruce blaming his periodic blackouts on his lightbulbs?

Why's the duck wearing his ugly brown suit and attended by Sheaf of Paper? Is Mallard trying to make an audition tape for new gigs (and good luck with dumb stories like that), or has the Tinsh just forgotten Mallard is supposed to be unemployed again.

A guy who gets paid to watch the grass grow works harder than this idiot.

Well Mallard. I guess that's why automobile brake lights are using LED's now -- even more efficient than CF's.

Your comic is moot -- even more so than usual.

Yikes.

One usually hits the break about 10-15 seconds BEFORE impact (if not more), because the car will not instantaneously stop on a dime.

Also, some cars have ABS, which in light-bulb comparison means that for whatever reason your bulb would start flicking on and off instead of staying on.

It's a BAD comparison. I hope Mallard doesn't drive.

This is the very "instant-gratification culture" mindset that Brucie would normally condemn. But then, I don't think anyone ever accused right-wingers of being intellectually consistent. Or coherent. Or honest.

He hates CFLs; it figures. When it comes to processing new information, he's slower than molasses. When it comes to pissing and moaning, he's faster than light.

"Do you believe how long it takes my Commodore 64 to load that program tape?! And now I have to play the whole side of my 8 Track tape to hear the same song again! And don't me started on that cockamamie Berlin Wall!"

He's never actually used a modern CFL, or any one at all ever, has he?

And once again, we learn that the Mallard Fillmore universe is a sad, joyless place. Who would want to be him?
