That damned Bad Stuff

What's Mallard raving about today?

President Obama

By "people" I assume Mallard is referring to himself and the guy who was too polite to walk away while he was ranting. Because everyone else stopped talking about this after less than a couple days.

Shhh! Nobody tell Brucie that you actually can't alter reality to conform to your personal desires by wishing really hard. Let's see how long it takes him to figure it out for himself!

The GOP has moved on, Mallard, to new lies and distortions and crazy blurted utterances. If you're going to keep trying to masturbate, maybe you could take it into another room.

Muffaroo: I hate to have to ask this - but would you explain your "57, 57" joke?

AH-HA HA HA! This is so funny, my sides are Akin! His horrible sense of timing is just the icing on the urinal cake!

Bruce Tinsley, you fucking sellout.

This isn't what you understood Obama's speech to mean prior to being informed of what the Official Talking Point was.

@Rootbeer:

Good point. It would explain why he did 2 days on this, quoting it in context, then bailed on it to scream about pants. He realized he was on the wronger wrong side of history, so he popped a can of Research and waited to be told what he could tell.

Does anyone here ever read the comments under the comics? 'Cause they've been really rich lately. I think some of these people actually believe that the President is saying these things.

@Rootbeer, Bill the Splut:

Big-time bingo, right there. For all his yammering about being a brave culture warrior speaking truth to power against the "liberal" media, Smirky Duck is just another meat puppet saying whatever the wealthier man's hand up his ass makes him say. Now with concrete, demonstrable evidence! (See also: Limbaugh; Beck; Dubya; Kevin Williamson.)

@D Johnston: Oh, hell yeah. They're getting hilarious these days. But I don't know if the more rock-stupid comments are from actual "fans" or just Tinsley himself (just as he is suspected to post around here on occasion).

Either way, we're talking about someone who completely ignores reality because N****R N****R N****R.

Meanwhile: What works better here? A "sign from God" joke, a Stand Your Ground reference, or a punchline about Al Gore laughing?

@Bogolov ... I believe the "57" joke is a reference to the reichwing's obsession with Obama once saying he'd campaigned in 57 states. This was an obvious misstatement, unlike Todd Akin's deliberate statement that rape survivors don't get pregnant, but we still hear it over and over.

Meanwhile ... contrary to Tinshley's prediction, no-one is believing the GOP lie about "You didn't build that" except for those who were Obama-haters anyway. After all, the Individual Mandate is all about Individual Responsibility and the GOP hates that!

Kip W [Muffaroo] said...

Rewinn is correct. Obama once said he'd campaigned in 57 states when he meant 47, and every six to eight minutes, some Republican on the net pulls that out as 'evidence' of his unfitness for office. The fact they keep using that is pretty much proof that they don't have anything else except that he sometimes uses a teleprompter, like every single other politician on earth (except Sarah Palin, who writes her lines on her hand with a pen).

Bogolov said...

Thanks. I should have grokked that. 57. Of course.

Bogolov said...

By the way, it seems our man Bruce got his orders early. The Repub national convention will have the theme "We built that!"

rewinn said...

Wow @Bogolov - you used "grok" correctly and in context! Extra points old-skool SF!!!

It'd be nice to stand up at the GOP convention and shout "You didn't write that line!", but I hate being tazed, wrestled to the ground, and manhandled out the door and into a squad car while a bunch of goons laugh at my pain.

So: The "W" stands for "wimp"? //I'LL be there. (I've arranged to have my entire body shot up with novacain beforehand.)

Until today's strip (which I notice Davey hasn't yet posted about), I'd have considered that at least as likely, and more compatible with known GOP practice, than my usual explanation for his more inertia-defying subject changes.

Now, however, I'm forced to fall back on the old standby "His vestigial editor caught him outright saying something King Features could get sued for and informed him that, in the event of a lawsuit, they'd throw him under the bus so fast it'd make his head spin."

Legible WV (third time's the charm): laintoy 5. Close the media... open the next.

You won't get in, Bogolov. Delegates only. They'll have a male hooker and a local female hooker at the door, and if neither one recognizes you as a recent client, no soap.
