That damned Jimmy Carter

What's Mallard raving about today?

Former President Carter.

Sub-conscious things to note:
  • Not even the barest hint of a defense of President Bush is offered. Instead this is simply an ad hominem attack on Jimmy Carter based entirely on Republican talking points. In other words, Mallard has illustrated the Republican playbook and published it in comic form.
  • If you want to paint a man as irrelevant, why would you bring up the fact that he is a former President, a Nobel Peace Prize Winner, and allude to his work with Habitat for Humanity? When you compare that body of accomplishments to illustrating a Duck for your living, it isn't pretty.

I guess he agrees Bush Jr. is the worst president

Here's what I find interesting about this episode: I've read several attacks on Carter by the various Bush apologists for statement. But, without exception, they have all been simply attacks on Carter. Not one has attempted to defend Bush or demonstrate that his [Carter's] assessment was wrong.

Or, as one letter the Boston Globe phrased it: If this is a case of the Pot calling the Kettle black, it's good to see that they are finally acknowledging that the Kettle is black....

The weird thing is if you point out Jimmy Carter's failures as president, once you make comparisons to Bush, the argument is over. Better you compare Carter to Reagan, Ahhh, Reagan, what a guy!

This is what happens when Tinshley repeats talking points he doesn't understand.

I think the reference to the Nobel prize is meant to be an attack on the Nobel. As in "another pointy-headed Nobel prize winner, like all those guys who keep trying to convince us that the world is billions of years old and that humans are responsible for global warming".

Also, kudos to whoever predicted last week that Tinsley would pick up this issue.
