Those damned Seventies

What's Mallard raving about today?

The seventies, the Cold War, Fashion, Jimmy Carter.

While I hate to cast aspersions on Mallard's attempt to find a humorous slant to George Santayana, but I am not sure who he is trying to suggest doesn't remember the Seventies. I might buy that members of the fashion industry were drunk or coked out of their minds and can't remember the Seventies. But who else could he possibly be referring to that might not have a clear memory of the Seventies?

Hah. Mallard follows the fall fashions.

More parallels: US mired in a guerilla war, president in disgrace, revelations about FBI wrongdoing.

This is Tinsley's excuse for why he's continuing to rant about the 70's. Because apparently he didn't get to rant nearly enough when the 70s were actually taking place.

Tomorrow: Mallard complains about Tip O'Neill!

"I think" the "comic" "needed" more "quotation 'marks.' "

Also, if Tinshley's in his forties, there's a good chance he doesn't remember the seventies. He might have been having his first drunken blackouts back then.

The scary thing about the '70s... at least to me (born in '88)... is the president who followed Carter.

If the American people get as sick of Bush and the GOP as they did of Nixon 30 years ago, we'll have a good, earnest Democratic president in '09.

But if he's like Carter (a good guy who tried to be as honest and good as possible as a politician can be from my understanding), people will hate him or her for being honest and not like the GOP and we'll end up with Star Wars to protect us from the Middle East while arming our next enemy. (I'm going with China. Can't believe they're getting the Olympics. If I watched the Olympics, I wouldn't watch it next year out of protest.)

So now we're getting fashion rants from a duck in a tweed suitcoat.

To answer your question, George W. Bush, for the same reason as members of the fashion industry.
