That damned goalie

What's Mallard raving about today?

The US Soccer Team's goalie, Racism, the Media.

Never in a million years would I have guessed that the stresser for Mallard recent dissociative break was the U.S. Women's Soccer Team's Goalie.

I have no idea what the hell he's referring to, and I sure as hell am not going to look it up, but if anyone cares to elaborate in the comments, have at it.

I sometimes mock Mallard's claim that he speaks for the "common man." But I will admit he's common in at least a couple ways: he's places too much of his own emotional well-being at the mercy of the vicissitudes of sports and he will apparently watch whatever the hell comes on TV.

Googling American soccer team goalie replaced.

Found a Solo replaced by Scurry.
Solo is white. Scurry is black.

But apparently Solo was replaced because the US was losing, and once she was replaced she publically criticized the coach's decision breaking a team agreement to keep such things private, earning Scurry a more permanent spot.

In other words, the only reason Mallard thinks it should be about race is because a white girl got replaced by a black girl.

I don't understand, is the implication that Solo was unjustly ousted because everyone's racist enough to think that black girls play better soccer than white girls?

It's SOCCER. Also known as football to the fanatical Europeans, who it should be noted, are predominantly WHITE. Thus is makes no sense to imply that Solo might have lost her spot to a veteran because she was white and Scurry is black.

Tina Fey: Rush Limbaugh resigned from his job on ESPN's Sunday NFL Countdown, after racially-charged remarks about Philadelphia Eagle quarterback Donovan McNabb, saying that McNabb is given too much credit for his performance because he is black. Finally, someone has the guts to say what the liberal media doesn't want you to know: Black people are not good at sports!

exanonymous: Actually, she was replaced for that one game because the coach thought Scurry's style would match up better with Brazil. And Scurry is the most accomplished goalie in US women's history. Both facts lead to your conclusion: the only reason Mallard thinks it should be about race is because a white girl got replaced by a black girl.

cqehsjh: Tinsley drunkenly watching a Democratic primary debate and yelling about the most liberal candidate.

OH. MY. GOD.

U.S. Women's National Team head coach Greg Ryan astonished everyone by pulling Solo and replacing her with Scurry. His decision cost his team the game. Solo made her frustrations known publicly, and Ryan tried to boot her. Instead, Ryan himself was sent to the street, and Solo will be back.

The liberal blog TBogg covered the story THREE WEEKS AGO and if you like you can catch up on the details with the first three articles found here:

Oh, hey, guess who is the ONLY person mentioning race at any point in this mess? OH, THAT'S RIGHT: BRUCE TINSLEY. The same person who ignores the racial and religious hatred spewing from numerous white public figures, while forever squealing and screeching about Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton. Pattern?

And you know his only interest in this sport is this event, so he can continue to exploit his (and his fans') persecution fantasy that Christian whites are the sole legitimate victims throughout all history.

What a gross little turd of a man.

Why do I have the feeling that Jena, LA is going to be mentioned before the end of the week?

Correction: Okay, maybe Ryan's decision wasn't the sole factor leading to the team's defeat. It was still an incredibly ill-advised stunt (based on the opinion of people more versed in the subject than myself), and it, along with his treatment of Solo afterwards, cost him his job.

I'm letting Tinsley's po-faced "soft racism" ("I'm not racist, I'm just defending my pure and innocent race from all the other races, which are subhuman and evil, and if you call that racist, it just proves what a racist YOU are, blah blah blargh") piss me off too much. Gotta keep my head in the game.

Why is a buttered piece of toast talking to Mallard? Is it the DT's again?

I'm sure Tinsley's hardcore conservative base cares deeply about the women's soccer team and the drama surrounding it.

TBone: Well, the tighty-whities-on-the-righties have shown interest in women's soccer in the past, on two occasions:

(1) When TV began paying attention to women's soccer, they bawled that it was taking airtime away from men's sports and who cares about women anyway; and

(2) When the celebratory shirt-removal thing popped up, it gave them something to simultaneously masturbate to, and condemn as immoral.
