Today's Mallard reminded me how much was lost when Bill Watterson retired. I can't help but imagine what Calvin & Hobbes would have done with the exact same premise.
If this was done in Calvin and Hobbes it would have been funny, I will say however that I did find this strip almost humorous probably because it lacked actual wingnut stupidity.

The Calvin and Hobbes reference is right on, except the imaginary friend/stuffed animal is the human, not the animal.
