The difference being, Mallard will sulk no matter what people say. In the real world, no one would bother talking to him at all by now. As, I'm sure, is the case with Tinshley and anyone who isn't a bartender or the cop who pulled him over.
I admit, I kinda liked this one as well. That would be the thirdtime this year. If he keeps up this rate, there will be six decent cartoons in 2009 - in terms of quality, that would catapult Mallard Fillmore past Marmaduke!
This one was actually kind of funny. Maybe he should drop the politics altogether and just do a nice mediocre humor strip. The last two days weren't nearly as nauseating.
I have a feeling it's not going to last though so don't get your hopes up.
Well, it would have to be something non-political but that he could address with some enthusiasm. I see a rebranded strip along the lines of "Dipsomaniac Duck: Booze Connoisseur".

Geesh, what a curmudgeon!
This is Tinsley's way of telling us that he's too lazy now to use more than two strokes when drawing Mallard's head.
Coming tomorrow....
"That damned Blue Sky"
Mallard doesn't understand conversation.
From my experience, people say this when they are dealing with someone they think will sulk if they don't say something.

What are supposed to do with someone who sulks if you don't say something, and sulks if you do say something?
Must have been a slow news day three weeks ago.
WV: acinges. Potential result of forgetting to put on asbestos underwear.
I love your WV Jazzbumpa!
Next: "Why do people say Good Morning even on lousy days?"
Dammit, I was wrong. This is two days running when I've laughed unironically at Mallard Fillmore. Are the end times upon us?
