That damned Costume

What's Mallard raving about today?

President Obama, Hallowe'en.

Yeah, remember how even-tempered republican criticism of then-candidate Obama was? No accusations of being a Socialist, Marxist, or Terrorist.

It wasn't until he entered office and took a huge turn to the Left, a turn which has thrilled and elated his Liberal base, that they suddenly realized he was a Socialist, Marxist, Facist, Kenyan, Terrorist.

I often wonder what it's like to be that self-deluded. I mean, is it peaceful?

Yeah, back during the campaign, they needed him to be an evil Marxokenyasocialist, so that's what he was. Now, they need him to have Cruelly Betrayed The American People, so he was sinisterly fooling us all by acting like a mild-mannered moderate back then before revealing his true colors.

It goes without saying that this is all idiotic bullshit and that Tinsley, if pressed, would be unable to point out a single way in which Obama has governed to the left of where he campaigned--'cause THERE AREN'T ANY, GENIUS--but what's insidious about this is that it compels us to act as though there would have been something WRONG with him acting in the way that deranged wingnuts imagine that he has. Whatever they need right now is the way it's always been. You can apply this principle to everything they do.

FUCK. I know there's no point in getting annoyed about it, but it REALLY PISSES ME OFF that lying sacks of shit like Tinsley are allowed to play Christian. Keerist.

If Batshit were a bliss-ninny, I'd agree. Rather, I think it's pretty awful, because there's bound to be a tiny voice of sanity forever weeping deep, deep in the background, and that's what makes Batshit such a bitter little toad.

He wants to believe this nonsense more than he wants to be sane, and that must burn whatever's left of the human inside him like a hot poker all the time.

I'd pity him if he wasn't such an asshole.

Funny thing is, among average Americans, the Obama-haters are largely cutting their own throats.

Sure, I understand the Aristocracy being all upset about a guy who made tiny steps toward a more fair nation. Like letting tax rates on the rich go back to what they were when Reagan left office.

But your average teabagger/GOPper relies on the very programs they are demanding to be destroyed. And when the GOP blocked a feeble attempt to cut tax breaks for job exports, it's their own constituents who are going to see their jobs go overseas.

Not to mention that when global climate change screws up our customary climatic patterns, the Joads are gonna be able to escape to California this time.

Personally, I'm o.k. Through luck and work I'm personally in a fairly Depression-proof situation. But I don't like to watch people commit slow suicide ... and drag our great nation and great planet with them.

You know, i think of all the incredibly racist possibilities i half-expected to show up in the second speech bubble, and i realize that Tinsley left me relieved at what was actually there.

Hey, if Obama was a Republican teabagger running for Congress, he could play dress-up as a Nazi SS trooper who committed war atrocities!

"We salute these idealists; no matter how unsavory the Nazi government was, the front-line soldiers of the Waffen-SS (in particular the foreign volunteers) gave their lives for their loved ones and a basic desire to be free."

Yeah, that's why we went to war with the Nazis. Because we hated their freedom.
