That damned Old Media

What's Mallard raving about today?

The Media.

It's funny because the media are hippies, while Mallard is, uh...in some way not part of the Old Media despite the fact that his distribution is largely newspaper based.

Additionally, Teabaggers are darlings of the young, hipster crowd and not 55-year old White Extreme Fundamentalists.

Seeing as Batshit's exited his "brilliant self-congratulatory on Twitter" stage (must've blinked, and missed it) and scrabbled back into his "increasingly irrelevant" state, I'm just gonna ignore today's strip and ask if there's a single "former teabagger triumphant" candidate in the whole club who hasn't been revealed to be a raving psycho.

Sure, at least one is bound to win* despite (perhaps even because of) such revelations**, but is there a single "normie" in the lot?

*...Although even wonderboy Rand Paul is getting looked at askance by his loyal base--not because of "Aqua Buddha," but because he's running scared from it.

**Dickless Dick Armey is already squalling that heavy Dem turnout in early voting is attempted fraud. (I'm afraid I'll need to see some proof, Dickless.)

On the right side of the desk -- is that...?

"Old Media": News organizations with journalistic standards. These aging entities double-check their sources, confirm their facts, don't propagandize or use the "some say" canard, and report the news rather than their political agenda. In other words, total dirty fucking hippies stuck in the past.

"New media": Drudge, Breitbart, NewsMax, WorldNetDaily, CNSNews.

Enjoy your future.

You know you're in the presence of powerfully concentrated pathos when you witness somebody who's afraid he's not hip enough for a bunch of terrified ignoramuses on health scooters.

Who are you talk... er, thinking to, Mr. Jewsworthy? Is it common in real life for people to sit alone in their offices, lost in deep-lidded sardonic thought?

And why does he have an AC-powered dildo on his desk at far right?

Sorry, Mallard, most folks under 30 are still liberals, and those that aren't tend to be cynical, bratty, or entitled therefore not representing the older conservative population too well.

Following @Tog's hint, I googled "twitter Bruce Tinsley" and saw that his last twitter was Oct 7 - his hilarious quip about possibly winning a Nobel Prize.

The one before it linked to a column by Anne Coulter quoting an anti-gay humorist,e.g. suggesting gays have tattoed on their buttocks "Abandon hope, all ye who enter here".

Class act dude - not!

Meanwhile, as to today's "cartoon" - it's just wrong on the facts. The old media/new media distinction is not a "conservative" discovery. To the contrary - old, centralized media has ever been aligned with the interests of the aristocracy, and newer, less centralized media has revolutionary potential. We saw this when the printing press overtook scribing, then electronic media overtook the printing press, and now with the internet.

Of course, the Aristocracy fights back, and eventually takes control of most of the presses, and TV stations. Whether internet authoring is subject to the same corruption remains to be seen.

How does this not represent the older conservative population?

Well....at least he didn't call it the "LAMEstream media" like the Quitta from Wasilla.

I don't think Mallard understand what 'old media' and 'new media' are. Or possibly even what 'conservatives' are. Don't conservatives usually, by their nature, prefer the older ways?

Hey Batshit, I think I found another one of those brown-skinned radicals seeking to overthrow America that you're always raving about.

Okay, when was the Mainstream Media EVER "Hip and Groovy"? Most MSM outlets have the same corporate sponsors as Faux News.

rewinn, this reads like a homage to William F. Buckley's oft-repeated (by him) proposal to tattoo a warning on the ass of any gay man with AIDS.

Pathetic, eh? This passes for humor on the Right.
