That damned Teflon

What's Mallard raving about today?

Teflon, Barack Obama, Ronald Reagan.

OK, this is getting seriously delusional right about now.

The moron actually talked about Reverend Wright! And now he's saying Barack Obama's the media's darling?

Good god, he's dumber than my dog, who jumps off the bed to bark at me, cries to get on the bed, waits until I put him up there, and then jumps off to start the whole thing again.

And that's saying something.

You know, I just finished my re-reading of Gravity's Rainbow, and I probably "got" a good 60-70 percent of it, a number which I fully expect to increase on future readings. But this MF strip? It has me at a complete loss. It's racist to use the word "teflon" in relation to Obama? I just recently did so in an email to my dad, and I'm an Obama supporter. Am I therefore nonetheless a racist? Is it racist to call Reagan teflon? Seriously, what the FUCK, people? Is it just that it's five in the morning, or is this stupid cartoon even less coherent than usual? Let's hope it ends up fragmenting and dissipating in the manner of Slothrop himself. See how I brought that GR reference back? Damn I'm good!

"Getting"?

This is Mr. Assholeworthy, Anti-intellectual Media Type, with tonight's thoughts of "What's Unpatriotic Today?"...

Number One:
Noticing that no criticism of John McCain ever seems to stick is unpatriotic!...

You can finish it from there.

If Tinsley wants to keep associating Obama with Reagan, that's fine with me.

Reagan was the worst president we ever had right up until George W Bush, but he won two elections AND got most of his programs through congress due to his attitude of optimism ... or dare we say "Hope"?.

Obama. Reagan. Obama. Reagan. Cool!

12xuser: Ya know, your Mr. Assholeworthy idea is quite marketable. In fact, you could build a career simply being Yin to Tinsley's (somewhat limp) Yang.

Key Question: Can you draw as badly as Tinsley.

One might use stick-figure drawings with no faces (and be accused of ripping off XKCD) and still turn out better artwork and more recognisable caricatures than Tinsley.

On a completely different note, I wonder if Mr. Noseworthy is Jewish.

I've always been awed by Mallard's sheer WTFery, but THIS is downright stupefying.

Yes, Tinny, the fact that "no criticisms" seem to be able to stick to Obama (which I'm not entirely convinced of ANYWAY) is CLEARLY a sign that the media is pandering to him and could not POSSIBLY mean that the criticisms themselves are, y'know, invalid or anything.

Some day it's going to come out - Mallard is the station's token duck, an affirmative action hire.

Tinsley wishes he could publish his real Obama cartoons, where the senator boils two missionaries with a bone through his nose. Actually, I wish he could too. It would be more entertaining than his dreck.

Actually, it was the premise of the strip was that the station needed a waterfowl american, and thus Mallard got hired because he fit the bill.

Duck bill that is.

Actually kind of cute, but unless his opinions on environmental issues are surprising, he's kind of a self hating duck. I'm sure I've seen him making fun of groups concerned about cruelty to animals, and I imagine he hates government protection of wetlands too.
