That damned ring tone

What's Mallard raving about today?

Ring tones.

Words cannot do justice to the dementia driving Mallard Fillmore into a pervasive hatred of everything around him, coupled with an irrational belief that he speaks for the Common Man.

Seriously, Mallard, seek help.

Did it ever possibly occur to Mallard that there are indeed people that actually like ringtones? Matter of fact, quite a few people I know have special ringtones for particular contacts, which is incredibly convenient.

It's amazing how over the past week, Mallard has degenerated from somewhat topical political rantings to, well, this.

Does Mallard actually think having a normal ringing cellphone makes it less annoying in public?

Or is this just a "kids these days and their newfangled technology back in the good old days horseback and letters were good enough for us mumble mumble get off the lawn where's my cane?"

It's so much less annoying to be in a room with 20 people where everyones phone sounds the same.

Why do I have this sudden evil urge to sit behing Tinsely in a movie theater setting my ringtone during the show? Nah, he'd probably be passed out anyway...

Mallard: "The far left and media elite are waging war on Christmas, a holiday I totally fucking hate every single facet of!"

confused: You don't want to do that. The only movies Tinshley's gone to this year are Expelled and An American Carol. And he watches them with no pants on.

No.

Mallard is an unhappy duck. He's unhappy about Christmas lights, Santas, lawn decorations, TV specials ... the whole thing.

On the evidence, he is unable to conceptualize "liking".

I'm hoping Mallard's just having a bout of SAD, except for him it's a year-round thing ... "YAD"?

Can I admit that I, like the XKCD dude, also find the use of snippets of popular songs as ringtones to be a combination of precious and insufferable? And goddamnit, even if fuckin' Bruce Tinsley agrees with me, I'm not changing my mind.

I wouldn't go that far. He certainly likes Reagan plenty.

"...He certainly likes Reagan plenty."

Ah, good point; although in that President-Reagan-Day strip, the "joke" depends on Mallard's assumption that his readers don't like Reagan. Is it because readers are real people, not cartoon characters?

Mallard, after all, is only an image. He mouths words written by someone else, in complete disregard of reality. Of course Reagan is his fav; like calls to like!

1] Um, has anyone pointed to Tinsley that there's probably not a cell phone in the world that doesn't come with "normal" bell-like ring tone installed?

2] Speaking of ring-tones: My mother was once in the hospital. It appeared that the standard way of communicating among the nurses, etc, was via cell-phones.

One nurse had a ring-tone that was basically a calm, polite voice saying "Are you free to take a call now?"

I want one of those.

Word Verification: "werwisti"

Even Grandpa Simpson is slowly distancing himself from Ducky at this point. Seriously; he's bitching that people's phones make a different noise then he thinks they should. Go ahead, let that sink in. God help you if you're within earshot when he passes by a car dealership, with all those greens and blues and reds.

Non-political strips like these griping ones this week prove that people hate Mallard Fillmore not because of its politics but because it is stupid, shrill, shallow, nonsensical, and most of all, incredibly NOT funny ever in any way.
