That damned Word

What's Mallard raving about today?

Words

Ordinary Americans, who need a break not a lecture, are being lectured about proper usage from a waterfowl with only rudimentary language skills.

But, for what it's worth, Mallard. The word awesome lost its meaning long ago.

And, it's January 9, for crying out loud, stop with the psychotic New Year's fixation.

We probably now have a whole week to look forward to of inveighing against slang terms that those damn kids love to use so much:

Monday: awesome
Tuesday: rad
Wednesday: tubular
Thursday: 23-skiddoo
HAPPY HOUR!: nice

Everyone will continue to correctly refer to Mallard Fillmore as a "hate crime on the scale of the worst enormities and the creation of a sociopath with literal shit for brains," however.

The schnook can't even b!tch about the vernacular competently: Anyone paying even a cursory amount of attention will have noticed that 'amazing' is far more over-used than 'awesome' any more.

Well, Mallard would know from officially meaningless.

As sometimes happens, there's the germ of a funny idea in today's strip, but Brucie's execution kills it more effectively than Lysol.

"Awesome", a word never before associated with Mallard Fillmore.

Today's "comic" reminded me of The Monkee's Awesome Hit 'Words', featuring the chorus:

Words that never were true
Spoken to help nobody but you
Words with lies inside
Small enough to hide
Til your playing was through!

Good to see that in "Fry Mallard" Bruce has found a new sock puppet to replace T: Sociopath. Just because we're the only people in the world who pay any attention to your crap strip doesn't mean you have to read this blog, Tinny.

WV: requirde; Bruce finds D&C requirde reading.

Meanwhile, this is worth reading: An open letter to the people who hate Obama more than they love America

Yes. Yes it it!

People who overuse a particular word are almost as bad as artists who seem to use the same drawing every day.

I gotta side with the Tinsh on this one. DaveyK, the year is still new until you sober up.

That's hella big-hearted of you, Marion, but if we give Brucie that particular loophole to wiggle through, he can legitimately claim that 2007, at least, is still a new year to him.

WV: cisest (I think). Reminds me of the limerick:
"There was a young lady of Worcester
Who usest to grow like a rorcester
She usest to climb
In trees all the time
But her sircesters usest to borcester."

Mallard is jealous because he has never been awesome.
