That damned arbitraryness

What's Mallard raving about today?

Reverend Al Sharpton.

Congratulations to Mallard!

After just 3 panels on the subject of Don Imus, Mallard has managed to drop all pretense and finally focus entirely on what this story is really about: Al Sharpton.

It's only the liberal bias of the Mainstream Media that caused them to be distracted by the man who called a group of college athletes "nappy headed ho's" instead of focusing on Reverend Sharpton.

What happened to the Reverend's finger?

Is that a finger or a withered penis?

do you get the feeling tinsley draws two weeks of strips at a time and then in a jack daniels-induced haze, misnumbers them before mailing them to the sydnicate. it would explain the jumps from the sign people to imus and back and back again.

Something like that, I'm sure. There was also the time last summer when what (looked like it) was supposed to be the first strip of Tinshley's* "The UN is a ruthless international pedophile ring" series** ran after the series had already been underway for a week.

* Remember to spell it correctly.
** I'm thinking of the strip warning that the series might upset "people who think the UN is the greatest thing since Eleanor Roosevelt". Not only do I not know anyone, right or left, who actually thinks that, I don't even know anyone who actually uses the phrase "greatest thing since Eleanor Roosevelt" in anything like a serious way. Whether or not Tinshley actually realizes the degree to which his strip fails to reflect any recognizable reality is, as always, handwaved as an exercise for the student.

Yes, either he has the worst editors of all time, or he stuffs large batches of strips randomly into an envelope. The jumps back and forth (and evil sun) are the funniest things about this strip.

Puyjnndf: Ugh, it didn't need to be said.

Actually, the penile nature of Sharpton's, um, digit does warrant comment. Either Mallard has some sort of subliminal thing going on, or he's explicitly making a reference to the stereotype of the predator oversexed black man. So does he feel inferior or is he racist as fuck or C. all of the above?

You're right. I forced myself to look at it again.. it's not an accident. Way, way too much detail has gone into that thing.
