That damned summer

What's Mallard raving about today?

School.

What? We're back to this again all of a sudden?

You don't labor OVER a misconception, Tin-Tin, you labor UNDER a misconception.

Oh, irony of ironies--that Tinny's most effective condemnation of public education is himself, as a product of same.

What's that? Homeschooled by tick-infested carnies? Nevermind.

The frightening thing is what kind of illiterate freakshows his own kids must be.

That is some weird 30's movie like monologue in that kid's head.

Tinshley has given up on catering to Bush's dwindling fanbase and is now trying to do a comic strip exclusively for school-hating kids.

Sorry, Bruce. It won't work. Kids are too sophisticated for your comic.

I will say that I think the kid is well drawn.

anonymous is right. His hair even looks textured! And his feet pressing against the bottom of the desk invoke an image of his metaphorical shackles.

I feel let down though - where's the screaming liberal straw man? Maybe he drew the boy, ran out of time and scribbled out some dialogue. Disappointing. Tinny, you know that the most effective way to communicate your idea is to portray someone who disagrees with you as a squinty-eyed, buck-toothed, insane, screaming villain, hellbent on destroying America. An off-screen text bubble won't cut it with today's sophisticated audience.

I'm surprised he didn't throw some strawman in there.

"Today's the last day of summer...ACCORDING TO THE WICCAN CALENDAR!"

"Today's the last day of summer...tomorrow we start our unit on evolution and atheist theory!"

"Only three months until it's happy holidays!"

Tinsley makes the same kind of strips Jack Chick would make if Jack Chick watched Fox News 15 hours a day were published every day in the newspapers.
