That damned Father Time

What's Mallard raving about today?

Father Time, Unions.

Worst. Metaphor. Ever.

There is one "Father Time" at any given time.

Unions provide individuals the power of collective bargaining.

Demented.

Tinsley is saying that any benefit towards a poor man, inevitably, hurts another. This contradicts his belief that social advances hurt, only, the rich. He is so fucking delusional, elitist and sociopathic that he deserves to go to Hell.

I think his point is that the UAW should have never agreed to all those concessions in 2005 and 2007, which left compensation and benefits in place for current employees, while cutting benefits and wages for future employees. Solidarity forever!

I think we're starting to get a feel for Ducky's daily routine.

Get up from watching TV.
Think up concept for comic.
Swing.
Miss.
Send to editor for publication.
Go back to watching TV.

I get a good laugh whenever reichwingers pretend to care for young autoworkers, who they say (as Tinkley does today) are losing jobs because older autoworkers got paid too much.

Somehow they think that the solution is to compensate ALL autoworkers less, instead of younger workers more.

I don't know any REAL workers who thinks they should be paid less. They tend to think that investors should think more long-term, management shouldn't make stupid decision while being paid millions in bonuses ... but most of all that government shouldn't subsidize foreign auto plants in non-union states. Take away those subsidies, and Detroit is completely competitive.

I hope you good ol'boys ain't expecting consistent thought from a reichwinger. Belief is what counts to them, not thinkin'. Their theory is that as long as you wear a flagpin and chant "U-S-A!" loudly, you can wreck our nation all you want.

Cuz, you know, you're wearing a flagpin.

Good cartoon. The media wishes to speak to Obamalot, concerning corruption in the Democratic party. This is exactly the way it will be for the next four years.

Probably the best cartoon by Chris Muir, of the entire year. He is one of the few to actually speak the truth about the "Obameister."

Sometimes I worry that the GOP is going to make a comeback in 2010/2012.

And then Anonymous comes by to remind us that their only response to a massive landslide loss in which the American people soundly rejected everything their party stands for is butthurt whining on comic strip blogs.

Oh Lord, Tinkley's lost whatever last shred of coherence he used to be able to muster. Consider the premise of the cartoon. The old year is retiring, and the new year is coming in. That makes sense. But then, Tinkley has to throw in some "joke" about not having a job. In as much as he's riffing on the economy, I understand that. But, the stupid fucker has set up a comic in which the individual without a job is the new year. So what am I supposed to take from this? That 2009 won't happen? That we'll all be dead come 12:01 AM? WTF?

Chyron HR,

I wouldn't be too worried. First, the Republicans are doing a superb job of alienating everyone but the 19% of the population that still think GWB is a great president. Second, when GOP talking points involve the sort of wishful thinking and playground taunts that our anonymous troll employees here, you know it's going to take them a long, long, long time to figure out a platform to motivate the sane 81% of the population to vote for them any time soon.

Cheers!

Chris Muir[...] is one of the few to actually speak the truth about the "Obameister."

For a value of "the truth" that includes "perceptions so rarefied they amount to hallucinations."

The truth really does hurt, don't you just love it??

Muir's "truth", like the "truth" peddled by all his fellow wholly-owned subsidiaries of the Right Wing Noise Machine (Mallard, Fox Noise, the Scaife papers, the Moonie Times, the Republican Party etc), does indeed hurt. It hurts the people like you, anon, who injure yourselves chasing after induced delusions, and it hurts the rest of us when you drag us along behind you.

Your boy Obama, the "hafrican" is not yet in office and his band of merry men and women want a stimulus bill, ready for him to sign the first week in office for, get this, $850 billion over two years. Looks as if liberals who actually work and pay taxes will be helping to shoulder the massive debt which will go on, and on. This has always been the Dems. answer to any problem, throw money at it.

Halfrican! Obamiscengenation! Niggerack Terrobomba!

Surely a barrage of comical racism will dent Obama's record approval ratings and make America love the GOP again!

"...they're too thick to realise they've lost."

...as amply shown by our Anonymous Coward today. Heh! How thick is he?

Point #1: Anonymous Coward doesn't actually comment on today's strip.

Point #2: "Halfrican" ZOMG! What better way to completely destroy the Republican Party than to use terms like that?

Point #3: $850 Billion over TWO YEARS? Compared to Bush's $700 Billion emergency give-a-way to his corporate buddies, his $150 Billion emergency spending on Iraq this year alone, and his $300 Billion necessary" emergency economic stimulus package just a few months ago.

Let's see: $700B + $150 B + $300B is what?

Verification Word: subtrast ... past perfect of "subtrash" as in "Tinkley got so deeply trashed last night that today he's subtrast"

"Hafrican"?!?

I mean, I welcome the GOP's embrace of overt racism as much as anyone, since they have terrible, terrible policies and should never be elected.

But seriously, how fucked up do you have to be to think "Hafrican" is going to convince a non-white supremacist of anything?

Oh, and cheers to our Anonymous friend who linked a comic that just overtly Godwin-ed itself. Good job there.

Boy, that Chris Muir! A Masters in Daily Republican Talking Point 101! How he's able to draw with a straight jacket on, I'll never figure out?

This. I believe I will have to genuflect in your direction, Scanman. You put my trifling efforts to shame.

How he's able to draw with a straight jacket on, I'll never figure out?

Some people have a vested interest in convincing us that Muir is sane, that's how.

I just clicked that link, having not previously realized it was a different cartoon from the one I characterized as delusional.

Good Christ. The verification word is icrin, which isn't quite appropriate because I didn't actually cringe at the cartoon itself, just at the people who think it represents something other than a level of projection rivalling your local IMAX cinema.
