Those damned Fat Cats

What's Mallard raving about today?

Congress.

I've no idea what this means, other than to express Mallard's disdain for Congress, a fact which is already abundantly in evidence.

The Capitol building is built worse than a kindergartner's gingerbread house.

So, has anyone figured out yet the date of the previously published strip from which Tinsley copied the graphic for today's strip?

SIMPSONS DID IT

DJ 3000: Those clowns in congress did it again. What a bunch of clowns.
Bill: [laughs] How does it keep up with the news like that? ...

nlc: On the evidence, today's badly-drawn U.S. Capitol came from someone's high-school notebook. We're just not sure whose.

=======

In the real news, just now President Obama announced he was accepting the recommendations of Senators John McCain (R) and Carl Levin (D) about reforming procurement practices, to reduce or eliminate wasteful contracting, very wasteful no-bid contracts, and very very wasteful contract overruns.

Compare this reality to today's "comic", and you'll have a good laugh AT Mallard, but not WITH him.

Did Obama time this announcement to make Mallard look even stupider?

rewinn: first, unless he reads the comics page, I imagine Obama is only vaguely aware that Tinshley exists.

Second, you assume that there would be a time when anything Obama does wouldn't make Tinshley look stupider. It's not like anything can make him look smart, after all.

Word verification: licklizi. Ewwwww.

Wall Street Fat Cats and Congress's fear that they'll be identified as such.

Which includes the GOP members as well. Which is funny, because lately the line they have for throwing each other under the bus has gotten quite long. And when they take a break from that, they're apologizing. They don't know who to martyr, demonize, or turn into a messiah these days.

Tinz managed to shoehorn two Simpson jokes into one strip.

DJ 3000: "Those clowns in Congress did it again. What a bunch of clowns!"

And Mr. Burns running for Governor shouting about the Fat Cats down in Capitol City.

Reminds me of when Doonesbury would draw the whitehouse with word balloons for Bush and friends chatting. Although those tended to be more specific jokes then "LOL! Government sucks!".

I think Tinsley's capitol building isn't that bad, but I've seen what he does when drawing people. I prefer the buildings.
