Those damned Herbivores

What's Mallard raving about today?

Carnivores, Herbivores, President Obama

Of all the things that confuse me about Mallard Fillmore, one of the biggest is why he does not seem to deal with time the same way everyone else in the world does, choosing to start and stop his "15 Years of Mallard!" series on a Thursday, rather than at the end of the week.

So does Tinsley not realize that dehumanizing The Other like this is a classic Nazi tactic? Or does he just not care? I don't know how many times he's used this exact so-called joke, but it never becomes less incredibly repellent.

I've been busy for the last week, so I've, not-so-sadly, missed most of Mallard. Much like how the sun shines, grass grows, and birds fly, it seems Tinshley making overly simplistic analogies to try and dismiss all efforts of diplomacy as suicidal foolishness will forever remain constant.

In other news, why does every strip featuring Mallard reading something from a sheaf of papers begin with "In other news..."?

Wait. I don't understand. How am I supposed to know how long Mallard's been around if Tinshley stops telling us every damn day?

And yeah, teh Muzzlims = bloodthirsty wolves. Hur hur hurrr, you sad little drunk. (And I love the attendant notion that the Western world, and Uhmerka in particular, are just cute little fawns or wombats or whatever that thing's supposed to be. Not in the real world, Tinz.)

I'm guessing Tinsley never saw The Lion King.

Circle of life and all that.

Honestly? I'm just thankful this whole 15th Anniversary nonsense seems to be over with, though with Tinny I suppose one can never really tell...

@Rootbeer:

Because he's a television reporter, so presumably the papers have his headlines on them. He's reading the story to his viewers.

Not that they do this anymore in television news, but that's Tinny's logic process for you.

Y'all missing the point.

The most recent terror attack on American soil when Tinkley drew this was the murder, in church, of Dr. Tiller.

Just this week, there was another terror attack at the Holocaust Museum. And before that was the guy who killed 3 cops because he was told by reichwing propagandists that Obama was gonna get his guns AND he had the right to kill cops to stop it ("Aim for the face, because they wear bulletproof vests" advised G. Gordon Liddy).

Today's "comic" says we should not negotiate with terrorist sympathizers such as Liddy, Beck and Murdoch. I disagree but if Mallard insists, then fine, send Tinkley to Gitmo!

rewinn -- I still think it's a three-week lag. So we still have until June 22 before Mallard starts ignoring the murder of Dr. Tiller.

Even by Tinshley's loose standards, today's strip is nonsensical. There are five primary carnivorous/omnivorous mega-fauna in the US: brown bears, black bears, wolves, coyotes and mountain lions (I'm ignoring polar bears, as you can only find them in Alaska). Of those, three are endangered or threatened and have been classified as such at the prodding of tree-hugging weirdoes like myself. One of the reasons environmentalists cite for such listings is to maintain the biological diversity of the eco-systems in which these carnivorous mega-fauna are located. Without their predation, there would be, could be and usually are significant imbalances of herbivore and omnivore populations. In other words, liberals (and the Obama Interior Dept.) WANT carnivores to eat herbivores.

The brilliant thing about this strip is that it's SO not a total repeat of a previous strip comparing America and The Enemy* as herbivores and predators.

Ducky is the only socio-plotical commentator with the courage to reduce everything to, "Use good! Us smash evil Not Us!" Nuance? Complexity? All liberal LIES!

*Consult your local Right Wing Talking Head station to learn who The Enemy is today! Would you like to know more?

If Tinsley wasn't a disingenuous hack the deer would be drawn with an arsenal of nukes, flying in on a state-of-the-art artcraft and the wolf depicted carrying a 30-year-old Soviet hand-me-down AK.

GeoX, you're right. There's a(n in)famous Nazi propagandist cartoon depicting a giant, ominous spider with a Star of David on its back. In its web are Germans. This and the stupid "velociraptor" comic from a couple weeks back are frighteningly akin to that Nazi drawing.

My personal favorite is when he depicted immigrants as deer-eating snakes.
