That damned Disappointment

What's Mallard raving about today?

BP's Oil Disaster, President Obama

Hey, Mallard finally gets around to the fact that BP is filling the Gulf of Mexico with Oil!

And you know whose to blame? If you'd been keeping up with your Fox/RNC talking points, you'd know that it's President Obama, of course! After all, he was elected for his ability to cap oil wells at the bottom of the ocean.

And besides, the Republicans believe the Free Market solves everything, except this catastrophe. This is all the Government's fault for not fixing it.

"Obama isn't visibly angry, so clearly he isn't doing anything!"

And then, once he does what they want, followed by:

"Obama hates big business! Poor widdle BP is being mistreated!"

Rinse and repeat.

This is almost a reasonable critique. It's true that there are people who are pissed off with Obama for not doing...something...to magically stop the leak. Only problem is, most of these people are--wait for it--Republicans. And, of course, they don't ACTUALLY care about environmental apocalypse; they just want to score whatever cheap points they can.

Still, you almost came close to not sucking today, Tinsley! If only you weren't such a worthless fucking hack, and you might get even closer.

This sort of works, the interesting part here is that it could almost see to be in support of Obama, IE "Well what do you want him to do about it? He can't just snap his fingers and fix it, technology is limited and he also has to run the country."

Even though my issue with Obama has more to do with a lack of clear information coming from him or the government. How much damage are we looking at? Should we look at rationing of certain resources? For that matter information on how bad it was and how bad it )would get was limited, I understand wanting to be sure the information is accurate but it still felt like they were either afraid to announce it or just didn't know.

But meh, I am actually curious to see if he runs with this for a while.

Yeah, I got a little scared there for a moment, thinking at first glance that Batshit's intent was to defend Obama.

But no--once again, Batshit's just being nigh-incoherent.

Change " his base constituents" to "every talking head on Fox News" and you've got yourself a coherent strip. But, as usual, Mallard is just making shit up.

Polls suggest that any dissatisfaction with Obama over this is because he's not doing enough to force BP to clean up their own mess.

But if you close one eye from partisan bias and fuzz over the other one with a haze of alcohol and bile, you apparently get toay's strip.

Perhaps we should just apologize more to BP, eh Tinz?

Meanwhile, given that Obama's approval ratings are staying pretty much constant (within the MoE), then if he's losing his "base constituents," he must be gaining in popularity with ... who? Republicans?

Is it really the most important news about the greatest disaster to hit our great nation in our lifetime (for you post-Vietnam-era kids anyway) ...

... that it makes Obama fans look silly?

"LOLOLOL Liberals think Obama is Jesus!!!!"

Do we really need to get into a debate about presidential messiah complexes, when the last president actually believe he was being ordered by god to invade places?

If the point here was that Obama should be slapping every penalty in his Executive on BP until they clean up their shit, or that Obama allowed these scumsuckers to "drill baby drill" when that's not what we voted for...then he'd have. But since Tinsley is a drunken, moronic bitter hack that's not his point.

Also just wanted to point out this blog began in 2006. Obama has been President a year and half and has far and away the most topics. Clinton, who hadn't been President for six years after this blog began, has more topics than Bush, who was President for two years in the blog's existence.

So on top of being a hacky, talentless piece of shit Tinsley's also a cowardly piece of shit as he's claimed he's libertarian. Libertarian is pieces of shit's way of being Republicans but sounding cool 9 times out of 10.
