That damned Plan

What's Mallard raving about today?

Immigration, President Obama.

Republicans spent eight years driving the country into a ditch. They then spent the next two years lashing out with overt and covert racism toward immigrants, blacks, and Muslims.

And it's President Obama who is ruining the country.

It must be nice to lecture people about personal responsibility when you take none yourself.

LOL Obama amirite?

Whaddaya think--is Tinsley INTENTIONALLY making these as transcendently lame as he possibly can just to get on our nerves? Or is that ascribing too much self-awareness to him?

I don't really know why Strawbama sees this as an either-or situation. Arizona seems to be doing both of those just fine.

And judging from what little interview material there is available, I'd say no. Tinsley seems to honestly believe that he is creative, humorous, and relevant.

Well, now I know what Batshit's poor caricature of Barack Obama looks like sporting Mallard's own smug smirk.

Now, I know that in Batshit's Bizarro World we horrid liberals object to Arizona's new law simply because we all love illegal immigration and hate law and order and especially hate hate hate America (ptui!). But in the real world, liberals know there's better ways to fight it than a law against "being suspiciously non-White while in Arizona." Rednecks may claim that's not what the law is about, but a cursory glance at the roots of the law or Arizona's history of racism suggests otherwise.

Start enforcing existing laws against businesses that HIRE illegal immigrants and I'll start listening, you redneck scum.

I'm surprised Mallard hasn't trotted out his strawlegalimmigrant Dave already, to show how not-a-racist he is for fapping to this latest Minutemen-style shenanigan (...Remember the Minutemen? Ha! They really took the dumbasses to the cleaners, didn't they?), but then little Rush probably has a restraining order against Batshit Tinsley and his bad touch.

As for the ever-declining quality of Batshit's output; I think he just looked at the newer strip State of the Union (AKA Who Let This N!##@& In MY White House!?!) and decided he was trying too hard. It doesn't have to make sense; it just has to be neocon. Making sense is counterproductive.

Yes, repeat something enough it becomes true, right?

Obama's destroying the country. *yawn*. So what else is new? For a megalomaniac evil mastermind with an arsenal of nukes, he's fairly incompetent at getting a death blow in. And it's not because Super Sarah, Brother Beck, Lightning Limbaugh, and their super-team of conservaheroes are holding back the tide. Those guys are all too busy making $$$$.

Arizona went too far. It is completely racist. If I were to visit that state, there is nothing I would have with me that would be definitive proof of my citizenship. But I would be reassured that I have nothing to fear... why? If I'm detained, it's against my constitutional rights and if I'm not, then exactly what did the police assess was proof enough that I was citizen that wasn't racial profiling?

Now, DaveyK, the GOP is all about personal responsibility. In fact, they're the Party of Assigning Personal Responsibility!

(I'm guessing they'll be assigning about a month of it to Helen Thomas, starting in three weeks. Do I want to see how Tin-eye draws her, or should I just paint over my eyeballs now?)

Oh, the cognitive dissonance of people who believe in American exceptionalism, right or wrong, and simultaneously believe that America is in grave danger because a mildly effective center-left government is currently in power.

Good point, Tinshley. Who would want to move to a country with a wetback-loving nigra in charge?

That is what you meant, right, you dipsomaniacal dogwhistler?

Thanks for nothing, Tog, for letting me in on the existence yet another furiously incompetent liberal-hate strip.

I guess I can take some solace that State Of The Union's author seems to have thrown in the towel a month ago, ending with a reprint of a strip depicting Obama driving a stake through the wicked vampire heart of Reaganomics. (Happy ending?)

Since y'all have covered the bases on today's "comic" let me alert you to a new outrage.

Glenn Beck is soliciting donations for his August 28 publicity event in the name of helping America's troops: http://www.facebook.com/restoringhonor

The exact words he uses to solicit money:
"It is through the support of non-profit organizations like the Special Operations Warrior Foundation (SOWF) that the families of these service members are taken care of in the event of an accident or loss of life. Help give back to these men and women by donating to the SOWF at www.specialops.org

(paragaphs later)

All contributions made to the Special Operations Warrior Foundation (SOWF) will first be applied to the costs of the Restoring Honor Rally taking place on August 28, 2010. All contributions in excess of these costs will then be retained by the SOWF"

In other words: "Give us money to help wounded veterans and the families of the dead. But we'll use your money to pay for our party. If we don't spend it all, maybe a veteran will see some of it. But don't count on it."

OK Mallard, you've been alerted. Now show us your outrage at this abuse of our troops, hunh?

Ho Hum. Republicans drive country into ditch, then laugh when Democrats can't pull it out. Also.

I was going to suggest that Brucie move to another country, but then I realized that would just be handing off our misery to someone else.

See, Brucie, that's the thing about us mushy-hearted liberal pussies: When we know what suffering is like, we try not to inflict it on others.

A few years ago, MAD magazine had a piece with a similar message, only it was about terrorists.

They won't attack us because our bridges can collapse on their own just fine, thank you!

And basically, we're in the shitter so why hurt us some more?

It was presented as Bush's plan to deter them.

Ever since this country was created, people have been kvetching about how bad it is and how bad government is - the Whiskey Rebellion, anyone?

I bet he will mention right-wing talking points about the BP spill - maybe showing Obama as aloof and a heartless bastard because he doesn't punch the BP CEO. (But if he did act OTT angry, these same people would go "My God, he's such a hothead, this situation calls for a level-headed person." (Plus there'd be racism - angry black man, anyone?)

Or the fancy pants - I liked the graphic last night that showed Churchill in bombed out London in sweats.

I enjoy the poeple who spend 95% of their time bitching about how incompetent and ineffectualy government is, and how they're the enemy, and we need to deregulate and slash funding and leave it to the private sector, are among the loudest wailing, "why doesn't the government DO something?!"

It's all bullshit kabuki, to be sure, but one would hope that people would at least recognize that.

Tinshley thinks "The Whiskey Rebellion" is his preferred alternative to the Tea Parties.

There was a time when he was funny? Really?

As for the strip itself, Brucie, you moron, people don't "immigrate to" a country, they "emigrate to" it. Then, in their new country, people say they "immigrated from" their native country.

Apparently, Brucie has as much connection to English as he does to facts -- i.e., NONE.

WV: deerso. What Caribou Barbie's answer will be (or already has been) to the question, "What did you do today?" "I went up in a helicopter and killed a deer. So?"
