Those damned Limits

What's Mallard raving about today?

Campaigns, Term Limits

Yeah, really clever there, Mallard.

But, on the evidence, I don't think you actually understand the meaning of the phrase "term limits."

Ironic for a duck whose been bitching for two weeks about College students' intelligence.

So when all is said and done, the only "value" Mallard actually holds dear is THROW BUMZ AWT--'LECT NOO BUMZ.

Not surprised.

OK, who wants to take odds on whether, if a Democrat actually made a proposal to limit campaign season, Tinshley/Mallard would actually live up to their word?

*chirp, chirp*

WV: skepi: I'm rather skepi-tical about the Duck's promise, obviously.

Given that the way to limit campaign season is public funding of campaigns (which is something the Yerps have, one of the many ways in which they've turned their backs on the True and Living Salvation of the Host of Angels), I doubt it.

Mallard Fillmore supports governmental restrictions on political speech.

And on businesses like Fox News, which are using speculation about who the GOP candidate will be in 2012 as a way of filling their 24-hour news hole in a manner that provides nonstop reinforcement of Republican talking points.

Yes, Tinshley, it's terrible when something you don't enjoy goes artlessly on and on, day after day, repeating the same stuff endlessly without any greater value to society while distracting people from things that really matter, doesn't it?

What I noticed is that ducky goes from black to green and looks like he is about to vomit,I suppose binge drinking while watching nothing but fox will do that.

We actually had a vote on term limits, back when the GOP controlled Congress.

How did that turn out anyway?

Th'other big point is that if we had term limits for federal judges, we wouldn't be saddled with George W Bush's corrupt picks for 50 years. I'm sure that our Founders appreciated that there would be a certain amount of corruption on the Court, but in the normal course of events justices would last only one or maybe two decades.

A constitutional amendment to limit federal judges to terms of maybe 20 years would be a great improvement.

And "term limits" on political campaigns could be achieved VERY easily: simply convert to a Parliamentary system. When you lose a vote of confidence, you have a short campaign ... a couple of weeks or so ... and then vote. It works pretty well in Yerp.

I'm voting for whoever will ease license restrictions on how many mallards you can shoot and when.
