That damned Obscenity

What's Mallard raving about today?

Teachers, Western Civilization.

Lacking anything actually worth complaining about, Mallard trots out a favorite Straw Man.

Man, Dr. Mahoney must be fucking mortified that her former student is name-checking her as he barfs out his idiotic nonsense about those darned imaginary people who hate western civilization. Actually, the very existence of Mallard Fillmore, assuming she's heard of it, must be a daily reminder that no matter how good a teacher you are, there are still some people who are simply unteachable.

Who says Western civilization is an obscenity? I mean, besides the voices in Tinsley's head?

The closest I can come up with is the attitude by ungrateful brown people around the globe who don't like it when we try to bomb them into submission out of fear that they'll return the favor some day.

You know, The Project For A New American Century (PNAC).

Note: I'm getting really tired of Blogger's "yeah it's busted but there aren't enough people complaining" horseshit. Just a thought.

For Tinsley, suggesting that there's any value whatsoever in anything outside the cultural dominant equals calling Western civilization an "obscenity." This is definitely the guy you want sitting in judgment over teachers, eh?

See no evil, hear no evil. As long as they were just hating us over in their own countries, there was no such thing as anti-Americanism. Finding out from our teachers that there are reasons other countries don't wuv us... now that's commie indoctrination.

The alumni magazine to which Mallard alludes actually states that Dr. Mahoney has been teaching at the school for 52 years.

No fucking clue where Captain Dumbshit got the number 53 from.

I'm happy enough with my life that I don't envy many people. One exception is the Harvard Law professor who taught both Obamae, and who was interviewed by Jon Stewart on election night '08: I would dearly love to be on The Daily Show the night one of my students was elected president.

On the other hand, I don't envy poor Dr. Mahoney at all. If I taught the Tinsh, I'd definitely want it kept quiet, above all by the wastoid himself.

I mean, logically everyone knows one teacher couldn't possibly be responsible for such a train wreck (or maybe, a car wrapped around a light pole) of a human being. But having been that besotted loser's teacher is not what I'd want people to have heard of me for.

Does the actual professor know that the people of India (lead by Gandhi), of Algeria, of South Africa ... and a great many other places ... criticized "Wester Civilization" even before she first got into college?

Of course she does.

But given the opportunity to give a shout-out to an old college professor, Brewsky can't resist the temptation to spoil the occasion with his usual poor-oppressed-me act.

What a sad, cheerless world today's conservatives inhabit! Truly, the soul of conservativism is fear and sadness.

Now, now, Rewinn, Gandhi didn't criticize Western civilisation. After all, he said himself it would be a wonderful idea!
