That damned Material

What's Mallard raving about today?

Trayvon Martin, President Obama

You'd also need to have an opinion anyone cared about, which isn't the case.

Ha ha ha! Facts?!? This, from the creep who has gleefully dabbled in Birtherism and Death Panel Fearmongering? The coward who doubted the case for invasion but kept quiet until Cheney slithered out the door?

Meanwhile, Tinsley's media idols haven't hesitated to try the case, and have found the victim guilty of wearing a hoodie and standing his ground while being suspicious (black).

The next few weeks should be educational as Not-A-Racist Tinsley plays catch-up, losing his shit over Al Sharpton's involvement and bringing up Martin's past minor infractions as justification for getting gunned down in cold blood by a self-appointed vigilante while walking home from the store.

Screw you, Tinsley.

I thought he did comment at least once on the case (March 24). Must have been a stopped clock-style coincidence.

You rush to judgement on stuff you really care about. When it's pollution effects, global warming, or the lives of some squalid off-whites somewhere, then patience and moderation become the order of the day. After all, Rome wasn't built by doing stuff.

If you read between the lines, this might be him complaining about all Martin strips his editor refused to let through.

I'm sure Tinshley would be equally level-headed and cautious had it been an unarmed white kid shot by a black man. Or someone from the Middle East.

More likely, he's just waiting for marching orders from Foxistan, and is confused that none of their talking points have successfully condemned the victim yet.

Given that he's confused by anything more complicated than working a bottle-opener, though, that's not saying much.

President Obama's comment was something about feeling compassion for Trayvon's parents, and recognizing that if he had a son, it would look something like Trayvon.

Does Tinshley really think more facts are needed before concluding that we should feel compassion?

Does he really think we need more facts before concluding that Obama is black?

The real problem that Obama-haters have with Trayvon is this: the city of Sanford was not treating the shooting as a crime. A lot of people didn't like that. They made noise. Even the felon running Florida's government decided it was too much, and assigned a conservative prosecutor, who has a good chance of treating the affair as a crime.

Choosing between law-and-order and race-hate, America's leading conservatives surrendered law-and-order.

Bravo, Mallard, for having the courage to not think about whether you could empathize with the family of a teenager who was killed.

Well, since Obama obviously is already "presidential material" (seeing as how he's, you know, THE PRESIDENT!), this is clearly Brewski criticizing the Rethuglican candidates.

Right?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!

As pointed out, Obama only offered condolences for the family. Thus, if Tinsley is critizicing people for offering opinions before the facts come out, then he is clearly referring to Romney, Sanitorum, and Newty Putootey.
But what's really funny, is that Tinsley will no doubt have a comic in which he tells us that Zimmerman is not guilty. And this comic will come out before the trial even starts.

Right, Mallard -- it's your tendency to defer judgment until all relevant facts are gathered that makes you unsuitable for the presidency. Sure. >snort< ... >snicker<

And how characteristically dishonest of you to pretend that you weren't commenting on the Trayvon Martin case on April 13.

Helpful hint: When a right-winger like Mallard/Brucie says he wants to "wait until the facts come out" before offering an assessment of the Trayvon Martin case, what he really means is, "I already know the facts, but they don't conform to my prejudices and preconceived notions, so I'm going to keep my mouth shut because I don't want to reveal myself for the ignorant, hateful, racist shitbag that I am."

Hey, I think he misspelled, "I haven't been able to conjure a way in which this is the direct fault of liberals, college professors, or government employees, so it really doesn't fit my needs, thanks." in today's strip.

Actually, there's a HUGE freebie being handed to Bruce, as a week or two ago, NBC (I think?) was caught (by Fox, as I recall) doctoring the 911 tapes of Zimmerman saying, "He looks suspicious, he looks black". We'll see if that gets snapped up.

Folks, let's hold off on criticizing Bruce Tinsley for having disgusting views on Trayvon Martin's shooting until there's actually some proof that he has them. Don't make me go back and click the 'Agree' box.

This might be one of those rare issues where his perspective isn't fully aligned with the rest of the right-wing rage machine's, which he usually deals with by not saying anything until the controversy has passed.

I saw an amusing comic today, one that presented a strange circumstance which proved humorous and entertaining in its incongruousness. I accidentally clicked on the link for Arctic Circle after having Mallard Fillmore in my peripheral vision temporarily blinded me.
