That damned Starbucks

What's Mallard raving about today?

Starbucks (obliquely).

I'm much less interested in the overall theme of the panel, which is fairly obvious, than I am with the prominent No Parking Zone sign. Given it's position, it has to signify something, but what?

Tinsley is such an awful artist, that much is true. His work is so rudimentary, like he's taking his first lesson in perspective. Step 4: put a sign in front to indicate depth.

Yeah, I think it's just a lack of design skills. He put in the sign so you'd know it's a street setting, but he didn't realize that putting it on the far right of the panel makes it look like a punchline rather than a background detail.

Ha ha! Starbucks is expensive! And airline food sucks! And why do you always lose one sock in the dryer? Brucie has gone from making comments on the tax system to stealing old Jerry Seinfeld routines.

And while we're at it, I bought a venti cappucino with an extra shot of espresso the other day at Starbucks. Total, with tip, $5. If your whole paycheck can't cover a five-buck cup of anything, maybe it's time to rethink your career path.

(Putting on my joke doctor hat for a second, maybe the joke should have been "Spent my whole paycheck at Whole Foods," which would have gone over the head of Brucie's like-minded readers but would have seemed more like a real joke to some people.)

*nods* I'm pulling down about $165 every other week, after taxes. To blow my whole paycheck on a latte, I think I'd have to go someplace that made it with Kopi Luwak.
