That damned Baldwin

What's Mallard raving about today?

Alec Baldwin, Compassionate Hollywood Liberals.

Before you get too angry that Mallard is extending a single incident into an indictment of an entire group of people, you're missing the big picture.

Mallard wants to see if readers can come up with analogues to his example.

Have fun in the comments.

He attempts the same dishonest stunt twice in a single sentence: Aside from the reference to "Hollywood liberals" (plural), he calls it a "reminder," as if this isn't the first incident.

But yes, the message is clear. Just as Tinshley has reminded us that conservative cartoonists need to lay off the sauce, the Foley scandal reminded us that Republican politicians want to have sex with our children.

It's a good thing he has Alec Baldwin identify himself in the first panel, because there's no other way to recognize that caricature.

First thing that comes to mind:

"On his TV show, early in the Clinton administration, Limbaugh put up a picture of Socks, the White House cat, and asked, "Did you know there's a White House dog?" Then he put up a picture of Chelsea Clinton, who was 13 years old at the time and as far as I know had never done any harm to anyone."

This has been an example of Compassionate Conservatism from somebody who is actually paid to talk about politics and whom Bruce admires enough to name a character after.

Well,duh.

Panel 1:
Badly drawn caricature of Dick Cheney sez "I'm Dick Cheney! Go @X#! Yourself!!"

Panel 2:
This reminder of what upright moral religious conservatives do besides listening to our phone calls has been a public service of the Fillmore Foundation.

Nearly as timely as the Baldwin thing.

I can't get over the 'minding OUR business' part.

I was so confused - what party cares what we do in the bedroom? What party cares what we do with our bodies? What party cares who we talk to on the phone and what we talk about? What party cares about what we check out from the library?

Plainly the hollywood liberal party...

Limbaugh... I was too young to see that, but I heard about it, and it's helped shaped my opinion of my limbaugh-listenin' dubya-voting daddy...

I like the fact that the picture is so bad that he needs to have Alec announce who he is at the beginning of the sentence (while speaking to his daughter). Imagine we all did that in every situation?

"I'm JOHN! Give me two muffins and one coffee!"
