That damned Obama

What's Mallard raving about today?

Barack Obama, Liberals.

In that case, to what do you attribute our Ivy-league educated President's slang, bad grammar, and (I might add) horrifying pronunciation?

By this logic, either he's being patronizing by attempting to appear like a "regular Joe" or he actually is as stupid as he sounds. Go ahead and take your pick.

There are two things in the past twenty-four hours that are sure to get Tinny up on his high horse('s ass). Anyone want to bet which one pops up first (after the obligatory two-week lag)?

First, the cover of this week's Parade Magazine (that Sunday-paper insert that has featured Bill O'Reilly and Ann Coulter) bore the headline "What's REALLY Heating Up The Earth." In spite of that confident tone, it turns out to be just a suspicion that rising temperatures are being caused by abandoned mine fires in China.

Never mind the complete idiocy of the idea (from the same evil-sun worshippers who once insisted that human pollutants couldn't hold a candle to forest fires and volcanoes); it offers Tinny a "source" to cite to both defend the internal combustion engine from the dirty liberal envirowackologists AND insult China. It's like a filthy, half-empty bottle of booze found on a men's room floor: how can he possibly pass it up?

Second, Tinny's hero and all-around humanitarian Rush Limbaugh took a breather from bawling about black athletes' unfair advantages to utter THIS:

Limbaugh: "Democrats want to get us out of Iraq, but they can’t wait to get us into Darfur. There are two reasons. What color is the skin of the people in Darfur? It’s black. And who do the Democrats really need to keep voting for them? If they lose a significant percentage of this voting bloc, they’re in trouble."

Caller: "The black population."

Limbaugh: "Right!"

Niiiiice. The impact of Tinny's semen into his own face upon hearing this must've been startling, to say the least.

Place your bets. As for today's strip? Tell you what, Tinpot; I'd rather have a patronizing smart person in office than the "folksy" piles of dog-waste currently running our country into ruin.

Did this even happen?

Why am I bothering to ask?

I think it did happen - in Tinny's mind - last Wednesday, when Barack went on the Daily Show.

And said nothing like that...

Nothing about his race...

But still, the Daily Show!

This is rich, given the revelations in David Kuo's book about how the Bush crowd cynically manipulated the religious right for their political gain. Or the parade of conservative candidates going before religious groups to speak the words that prove that they're holy enough.

Yeah, I would love to see a citation (or even a Tinsely pseudo-citation) on this one.

But, really, what's patronizing, or even "bacl" about the word crew? I've often heard the word "crew" used by people to mean, like, just the hang that people hang out with, or people who help you out. Like cast and crew, or pit crew.

I mean, urban dictionary doesn't even have a definition of "crew" as BT derides it.

I wish he'd continued his bitter, insane rants against education.

Why?

Today's my first day of college!

I just went to Honors Freshman English, and despite taking a year off, I don't feel like I will fail miserably!

I wanted to be "inspired" by the Tinz today. It's not fair.

Obama did, in fact, make these exact remarks to a crowd in Chicago. He was either pandering or showing that he's comfortable with black vernacular. Tinsley assumes the worst.

Since he's growing into such a critical thinker, Tinny might also wonder in future strips whether Bush Sr.'s favorite snack food is really pork rinds, and whether our ex-cheerleader President really spends his down time clearing brush when cameras aren't present. He could make a wider point about politicians in general being economic and social elites whose demonstrations of solidarity with the working and lower classes are largely (and necessarily) symbolic, but instead he pretends that this is a uniquely "librul" phenomenon.

Maybe Turdsley's next strip will address the question: "Is Fred Thompson rich, old, and white enough to represent the Republicans?"

But 2-week Lag Tinsley would be too late. This guy has it covered.

Why the 2 week lag, anyway? It's not as if Mallard Fillmore cartoons require more than 20 minutes to imagine and draw.

The Tinz needs the two-week lead time in case he has too good a time at the local tavern and wakes up the next morning naked on the hood of his car with his keys in his ass again. Because then it's detox time, and while he can barely draw to begin with, doing so with the DTs is flat out impossible.
