it's really hard to move to europe from the us because of their immigration laws. it would also mean uprooting your whole life and learning a new language. he also did the refund thing many times before.
Mod algighty. I was waiting for this one: Tinny's annual "idiot who thinks his 'refund' is free money!!!1" strip. Tinny has nothing but contempt for those of us who have standard deductions in our paychecks, but I'll say this; Tinny's the one grinding coals into diamonds inside his anus over his taxes every damned year, not me. (Here comes the strip where Mallard claims to invest that money wisely in the interim--rather than, you know, blowing it on hooch--which is why he's so insaaaaanely wealthy.)
Ah, but Tinny's thrown in a little Eurotrashing this time. Oh my goodness, how outrageous of him! Personally, I've never heard nor read anyone, ever "praise" Europe's higher taxes; in my experience they've always been mentioned to point out how good we have it in America (for the time being, anyway). Tinsley cannot comprehend this. Wooo....
I'll send a little praise Europe's way for this; they recognize a quagmire a lot quicker than some of us do, and when they do they get the hell out rather than dig in deeper. Do a strip on that, Tin-Tin.
Re: ponytails, there was this obnoxious right-wing cartoonist in my university's lamer newspaper that always drew her straw-liberals exactly like this: skinny, beard, glasses, turtleneck, ponytail. And a limp wrist. It's those little details that really count!
I wonder if Tinsley was her hero (wouldn't be surprising) or if this is some kind of collective wingnut unconscious thing.
How would introducing the straw men to each other keep them from annoying Mallard? Were they previously chatting him up about their points of view? Does he think they'll annihilate each other in some form of matter/antimatter explosion?
And, uh, Bruce? It's the 16th. Tax day was yesterday. Please find some new dead horse to flog.
I have nothing but praise for Europe's higher tax rates! I applaud the UK's 42% rate and honor Norway's ballsy 58.6%. Go Vikings! Makes me giddy just thinking 'bout 'em.

I like how the straw-liberals always have ponytails. 'Cause they're all just a bunch of hippies, amirite?
Something tells me that a similar situation happened to Tinsley in real life. Mallard can be a pretty blatant author-surrogate sometimes.

BWD:
Mallard has mistaken praising of Europe's social welfare systems such as health care or education as praising their raised taxes.
The usual Bruce Tinsley oversimplification via strawman. That's why you've never heard it. No one phrases it like that because it needs to sound bad.
This cartoon can be summarized in 10 words:
It's YOUR money.
Love it or leave it!
Damn liberals.

Tinsley: the guy who incessantly praises the United Arab Emirates' low tax rates but never moves there.
Priceless: The word you throw into your stupid comic to make it seem like a hip pop-culture reference.

Bruce doesn't need your libruhl calendar, Dave, not with its MLK Day and Tax Day.
Look again: in this strip, Mallard is dreaming about running a dating service for men.
Not that there's anything wrong with that.
