What's Mallard raving about today?
China.
While I tend to agree with Mallard about China and the Olympics, I do believe these kinds of discussions are possible without running afoul of Godwin's Law. Though, I suppose not when dealing with an intellect like Mallard.

Hee hee. "Afowl."
Anyway, the real answer to Mallard's question is "because no American city could afford to bribe the IOC this cycle like Atlanta and SLC did."
(But I also agree that the Olympics shouldn't be in China, and will avoid watching them as a result.)
So what exactly is he trying to say? That the Chinese government is bad? It's not like anyone doesn't realize that already. It seems Tinsley wants to think that he's the only one who has concerns about China's actions. (Those librul protesters in San Francisco don't count.)
Those are bad comparisons to make anyway. The 1936 Olympics was done before we really realized the extent of what Hitler was doing, and the 1980 Olympics was boycotted by half the world (including China, ironically enough).
