That damned plug

What's Mallard raving about today?

The Constitution

I don't remember Bush/Cheney had insisted the Constitution was a living document, although their attempts to subvert it are pretty fresh in my memory.

Though their Administration explains why, if we take up Mallard's metaphor, the Constitution is currently plugged into life support.

So is he saying that President Obama is ignoring the Constitution? Obama's party does control Congress after all, so it's not like pushing his agenda through the system breaks any laws.

Though I have to say that if the Constitution is, as this comic suggests, literally alive, then maybe we should pull the plug. That's kind of creepy.

Actually, I think we should take this at face value and in recent context. Bush/Cheney/Addington/Yoo tortured the Constitution to read into it their theory of the unitary executive. Perhaps their preferred mode of torture was not water-boarding but electro-shock. Now, the Obama administration is going to pull the plug on the electro-shock machine and begin reading the Constitution in a more traditional manner (i.e., war-time does not suddenly imbue the President with massive, unchecked powers akin to a regent).

Just a thought.

Well, this is definitely a case of someone who's right...but for the wrong reasons.

O.M.G!

Tinsley ripping into the Cheney/Bush adminstration!

Wait! Did I just see four horsemen ride by office window? Are those trumpets I hear?

Well, gang, you've made some valiant efforts to derive a modicum of sense (albeit unintended) from today's mistraiy, but it's really just one more WTF.

WV: mistraiy - mystery, misspelled by a Hungarian.

I think it's funny how he adds "The Constitution" at the top, as if "We the People" wouldn't have indicated what it was.

Haw - he can't even draw a caricature of the Constitution well!

Tinkley lacks the courage to state plainly what part of our Constitution he thinks his enemies are violating.

He just implies it's something, and *wink*wink* we know what it is and *wink*wink* you know what should be done about it.

No doubt the part of the Constitution he's worries about is not that bit requiring warrants before the Government spies on us, or the part forbidding cruel punishment. It's some other part, no doubt the same part that the Pittsburgh cop-killer, Dr. Tiller's killer, and now the Holocaust Museum killer sought to defend with murder. While the latter two terrorist attacks occurred after today's "comic" was drawn, they were inspired by the same language Mallard Fillmore uses to label his enemies as subverters of our Constitution.

Today's "comic" is just more propaganda for terrorism ... protected by the 1st Amendment of course, since our living Constitution will outlast a drunken cartoonist lacking the courage to cite what part of the Constitution he thinks is in danger.
