Those damned Illegals

What's Mallard raving about today?

Arizona.

Even by Mallard Fillmore standards, this makes absolutely no sense at all.

Unrelated, however I look forward to three days of Mallard'd outrage over this, no matter what race the bomber turns out to be.

That's what I thought at first, then it hit me: he's inviting the "illegals" (cute) to get the hell out ("boycott") of Arizona.

Between an Arizona power commissioner daring L.A. to cut off the state's power supply (that's more of a Dick Cheney move, and he knows it) and Texas trying to "white"wash history, it's like we're on the verge of Civil War all over again.

(Two hundred years from now, they'll claim it was never about race this time either.)

As for the story Davey linked to: hell, yes, Mallard will comment on it. He will be enraged that it is being investigated as a hate crime.

By all means, let illegals boycott Arizona as well. It might be illuminating for the legals there to find out just how much of their economy depends on "those people."

Gops are mighty quick to call for boycotts when it's their ox being gored, so a tourist boycott of their state is just sauce for the duck.

(Just an expression: Duck is inedible and cannot be swallowed without large amounts of liquid, such as whisky or grape Flavorade.)

Now that I think about it, "Sauce for the Duck" is a pretty good description of Tin Eye's working methods.

Yeah, if this site didn't exist, I'd have to create it, and "Sauce for the Duck" would be a brilliant name.

Anyway, Tinshley still sees brown people. And pink elephants. Bored now.

In the event that Tinsley does chooses to acknowledge the mosque attack, I think we already know the approach he'll use:

White perpetrator: "The Mainstream Media is HAPPY that a white guy did it!"

Non-white perpetrator: "The Mainstream Media WISHES that a white guy had done it!"

The whole "they should come here legally" would hold a lot better if they could. Unskilled labor doesn't cut it on the immigration applications that can takes years to process and cost money when your family is starving now.

I'm patriotic to know what this means:

The New Colossus

By Emma Lazarus, 1883

Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.
"Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she
With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

Was that another principle to be tossed by the wayside? Our symbol of liberty's words are meaningless in this day and age. I guess she didn't do a good job of keeping the storied pomp out.

Allow me to paraphrase the comic: All Arizonans are traitors, and the Deep South, the one place Tinsley likes, has a smaller area that Tinsley can tolerate.

Keep, ancient lands, your storied social safety net!" cries she
With silent lips. "Give me your IT skilled, your wealthy,
Your scientists yearning to patent free,
The pharma workers of your oil-free shore.
Send these, the educated, university-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden arches!

Took me about three reads to get it, too.

Remember, children: When you dehumanize The Others, it's easier to hate them!
Would you like to know more?

I got $100 that says Ducks has no idea how to approach the problem of immigration beyond, "deport 'em." It'll be a modern day Sendero de las Lágrimas!

Maybe we can just put them all in centralized camps...

I look forward to the day when all the illegals are expelled from the country.
Why?
Because then we can enjoy people like Ducky complaining that everyone's lawn looks like shit, and food costs so much these days.

There was a point at which I was willing to cut the teabaggers some slack on the condition that they were sincere about being based on goals other than sheer bigotry.

That's all over. And I can see now why Batshit's such a huge fan of baggotry. See how "independent" these guys are?

The whole point of illegal labor is to undercut the price of legal labor.

Put a few more employers in jail and we'll see the jobs dry up, and then the immigrants will go home. Problem solved.

The point of the Aryanzona law is to further suppress voting by Hispanic Americans who are not only here legally but actual citizens, but might not want to have to carry their papers with them at all times. Aryanzona is famous for similar racist vote-suppression efforts; that sort of thing started the career of William Rehnquist (who ... to anticipate a later Ducky "comic" ... had no judicial experience before being seated on the Supreme Ct.)

Let's not forget that AZ was the last state to refuse to celebrate martin Luther King Day. As Chris Rock said on SNL (partial quote, the whole thing is hilarious):

"Now if you don't like black people, that's one thing, but what I can't understand is why people in a hot-ass desert town like Tucson, Arizona wouldn't want a day off work. It's not like you have to do something black on that day."

Hey, Arziona, this is 2010, not 1960; accept the Constitution. Hey, Tinsley, this is the electronic age, not the Renaissance, accept the basic concept of human rights, and equality.
