That damned Letter

What's Mallard raving about today?

Mid-term elections, President Obama.

Whereas everyone in the Party of Personal responsibility knows, what happens when you are in charge is someone else's fault, entirely.

So who is responsible for this recession, which started in 2007? Do the Democrats have a time machine?

Also, President Obama is left-handed.

So Obama is planning on doing exactly what the Republicans have done for three years. Okay.

Nate Silver puts the GOP's odds of taking over the Senate at about 3 to 1, and that figure was 4 to 1 a few weeks ago when Bruce actually "drew" this box of text masquerading as a comic strip.

Stated without comment is the observation that voters do tend to respond quite favorably to the tactic of blaming the party currently in power for all the world's ills.

Good lord, now he's whining pre-emptively.

It's very rich that Tinsley is pre-emptively accusing President Obama of being uber-political. The Republicans have been playing politics with the economy and ginning up fear and xenophobia since November 2008. And they invented this Tea Party crap to attack the president and then be able to say "See, it's the common man rebelling against the Muslim usurper!". Damn Brucie, project much?

Given Tinshley's record of predictions, today's "comics" is great news ... for Democrats!

Hooray! The heroic republicans are trying to take back congress by blaming the opposition for the bad economy! But oh no! Once out of power, the vile, deceptive democrats are going to try to take back congress by blaming the opposition for the bad economy!

This is a perfect example of what I'm talking about: If republicans do it, it's good. If democrats do it, it's bad. And today, we get to see both these statements in the same comic! Pure, mindless tribalism.

Rest assured that if the GOP exceeds all expectations, Tinsley will find a way to sulk in triumph.

It's possible to find things that are farther from the truth than Tin's predictions of things to come. For instance, there are his retrodictions of things that have already happened. Fortunately, I don't have to make up a word for things he says about the present, as he is never closer than three weeks to it.
