Those damned Fish

What's Mallard raving about today?

BP's Oil Disaster, Fish.

...Luckily for us, Mariner Energy's platform blew up just recently, so we might get another break!

For the record, this is one of those few times when reading Mallard Fillmore that I may not have found it exactly funny, but I didn't want to gouge my eyes out either.

And...what? That's it?

Maybe I was hasty yesterday, when I wanted someone to divine a political statement from Batshit's NFL strip. Perhaps Batshit's decided that "speaking truth to power" is hard work, and has taken a break to fart out a series of "regular" comic strips with a humor level hovering somewhere around "Marmaduke."

Maybe. Maybe he's just lost it completely.
We all knew it had to happen someday.

No, see, it's funny 'cause fish don't like swimming in oil OR being eaten! Hahahahahahahaha, stupid fish!

If that's NOT what the Tinsh is attempting to convey, then I got nothing.

Wait, wait, I think I got it now: Batshit's trying to say that "they" claimed the Deepwater Horizon catastrophe would cause long-term environmental damage, but it didn't happen and now yay everything's back to normal. Stoopid hippies! Wrong about everything!

What threw me off was that, in addition to not knowing WHAT he was talking about, in this case Batshit also didn't know WHO he was talking about.

Summer?

Perhaps these fish should take a trip to the waters off Alaska and have a chat with the fish there, where they'll find that the fishing industry has not recovered since (and in many areas has been dead since) the Exxon Valdez disaster in 1989.

I think the punchline is that, just like in the Sixth Sense, the fish don't realize that they're already dead.

Tinshley, at his best today is kinda like Ziggy at his worst.

The "Mallard Fillmore" checklist:

Poorly drawn caricatures: check
Lack of joke: check
Lack of facts: check

In other words "Mallard Fillmore" is completely pointless and a waste of time, yet I am strangely drawn to it in the same way people are drawn to car wrecks and roller derby.

Who knew that the interval between leaking and lying was a "magic time"?

In ducky's mind, oil no longing spilling = everything is perfectly clean and safe again. Which is like saying, "Oh, the fire department got the fire out? okay, everyone back inside, where's my TV Guide?"

IE: goddamn fucking stupid. So, just another normal Mallard Fillmore.

In his latest tweet, Tinsley bravely comes out against the Americans with Disabilities Act. What an American Hero.

@GeoX: Heh. I'm afraid to even look at his twits. Sounds like he's been drinking with his fellow "libertarian"-cum-Nazi, John "Service Snakes on a Plane" Stossel, source of this and this. Obscenities of a feather wallow in their own filth together.

Steve-O said...

Service Snakes? Bwahahaha, I think Stossel must be hanging out with Sen. David Vitter a little too much.

Well, either a) those fish have been horribly mutated by bathing in the spilled oil or b) Brucie's still just that shitty an artist.

Is there really any doubt that it's b)?

Huh?

Ain't no one stopping Mallard from running down there and eating the fish right now. What the government advises against is not the same as a totalitarian government preventing something.

Hey, this is exactly the same "joke" as yesterday!

"Woooo... I like that time when things are good in between times when they are bad...."
