Those damned Jobs

What's Mallard raving about today?

Jobs, Elections.

Mallard Fillmore and the Republican Party...

Change election day to a weekend? Cool!

Extend benefits to the unemployed? Boo!

Priorities, people!

Wait! Mallard's grown a third expression! Either Batshit reads D&C, or someone finally convinced him that Mallard's smug smirk wasn't the best expression to use while discussing American poverty.

...Unless we're talkin' about Democrats losin' their jobs in November, amirite! Hah? Hah? Mama Grizzly drivin' th' Tea Party Express to vic-to-reeee!!!!1 Woo!!!! Woo!!!! Not a train wreck at all!

Reminder:

"We were told four years ago that seventeen million people went to bed hungry every night. Well, that was probably true. They were all on a diet."
-- Out-to-touch former Hollywood actor and Batshit idol Ronald Reagan, just before falling into a fit of guffaws

Weekend elections are fine with me and, even better, make it a holiday. The civil sacrament of participating in democracy deserves it!

I'd take Mallard's concern about the economy more seriously if he had any solutions other than the worn-out conservative dogma that got us into this mess.

Ugh. Should have been "out-of-touch," not "out-to-touch." Need more sleep, less stories about the Pope.

Only 2 more days 'til we get the comics he "wrote well for the first time in a couple of weeks". It can't come soon enough.

I concur with making election day a national and state holiday. We can even get rid of one of the more useless holidays: President's Day (too imperial) or Columbus Day (antiquated and Eurocentric).

What about people with jobs on the weekend?

I take it this is something like #371 in a series called "Things Mallard Would've Said During the Previous Administration If He'd Had Any Honor."

"Observe the Sabbath and keep it holy"? Not if you're Mallard Fillmore.

Polling places stay open for what, fourteen hours straight? Anybody who decides not to vote because it means they would have to wake up an hour early to go to the polling station before work really SHOULDN'T be voting, anyway.
