That damed Zoom

What's Mallard raving about today?

The Media, Sex Scandals.

You know, I wish Mallard had not gone with "zoom in" in reference to Anthony Wiener's crotch shot. I really do.

Oops. I forgot to tell a joke.

Wow, Batshit certainly soured on Twitter, didn't he?

Otherwise, he's playing the usual media game: wallow in it for a week, then pretend to have one's gossamer sensibilities offended by it.

Does he honestly think smooshing together two dead horses (in this case, DURRR ME HATE TWITTER and WEINER! WEINER! WEINER! OH!) makes a fresh live horse?

Lack of self-awareness, thy name is Mallard Fillmore.

Honestly, I don't see much of a difference between the media's comprehensive coverage of Anthony Weiner's bulge than of, say, Christina Hendricks's.

Some people are more intimidated by the implications of male sexuality than on female sexuality, though.

Since "Mallard Fillmore" can never be relied upon to be funny, I thought I'd provide some laughs today by sharing a couple of letters to the editor from this morning's paper in which the writers leapt to MF's defense against two letters from a week or so back which expressed disdain for MF, insisting it had no place on the comics page:

======

The comic strip "Mallard Fillmore" is a breath of fresh air. Liberals - as always - can't handle the truth, and they yammer and bleat until the truth is hidden.

Personally, I lament the loss of "Pogo" and "Li'l Abner," even though I am not old enough to remember their particular politics. More than anything else, they and Fillmore were and are chroniclers of their respective times.

======

A couple of recent letter writers have been in a dither over "Mallard Fillmore" being in the comic section.

I suspect this is an organized campaign by a few left-wingers who don't like anyone's opinion but their own to be published. Liberals used to be for free speech, but apparently no more!

I don't hear you whining about the ultra-left "Doonesbury." As far as kids reading it, please! Are you afraid they'll get a mind of their own, and heaven forbid, have a few conservative thoughts? Our rights are being eroded every day and you're worried about a comic strip? Huh?

Mr. Madeiros should know that Walt Kelly, who drew Pogo, would have found Mallard appalling on all sorts of levels, not least but at the same time not only because his politics were entirely opposite Tinshley's

Frank's just a little paranoid, ain't he? They got Glenn Beck, and one day they'll get you too!!

As for Alan...the only things Mallard Fillmore "chronicles" are the hypocrisies, hatreds, and progressing deteriorations of one Bruce Tinsley.

Weird, I LOVE Pogo. I don't recall it having a particular political slant, other then maybe "everyone needs to calm the hell down" with just a hint of mocking the military mindset of the cold war.

Oh, wait, never mind, some 80 year old white guy says that liberals hate Pogo and can't handle free thought. BLDGIULEFIUGEF I HATE POGO!!! VIVA CASTRO!!!! MANDATORY GAY ABORTIONS FOR FREEDOM-LOVING INFIDELS!!!

Let if me noted that the "left-wing" Doonesbury has more frequent and sympathetic protrayals of our actual troops and the issues facing them and their families than BOTH Mallard Fillmore AND Prickly City combined.

If that's left-wing, fine with me.

The letters to the editor were excellent! Perfect!

Hysterical paranoid rantings of an unprovable yet omnipresent cabal trying to oppress you, personally, are 'perfect; eh? Okay then.
Look, I liked The X-Files, too, but give it up, man.

Somehow lamenting the news echo chamber, MF repeats it. The cycle is terribly old news by now. Is MF the mortician that dresses up the carcass to hide the bullet in the back and call it a suicide by creating a hole in the forehead? MF is part of the media and is resurrecting the focus one last time, redressing the event with a final wrapper accusing the left of media bias. A feeble attempt at twisting the sword after the initial thrust.
Hold on here now. Who sits in front of the television anymore, anyway? MF is setting himself up for an onslaught of commercials. That poor position is so compromised, he couldn't get out of that chair to change the batteries in his remote. Many of us grew up watching Archie Bunker on the TV sitting in his comfy chair watching TV. Most don't feel the need to mimic.
Speaking of televisions, is MF's filled with down?

MF is on Facebook, which y'all probably know.
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Mallard-Fillmore/145442352178893?sk=wall
It has been up for at least 5 months and no one dislikes it and only 28 like it. Funny thing about Facebook, you cannot dislike it, unless you once liked it, nullifying the "like", so no dislikes ever exist.
The page was set up for among other things(?), discussion. . . News flash: none so far.
It must be on auto post since each "toon" is posted on a daily basis.
Lame, how "F"booking lame can one be?

Wow, if the Tinsh weren't a horrible person perpetrating a horrible cartoon with absolute job security as a result of his horrible ideology, items like Dekay's might almost make me feel sad for him.

Walt Kelly: "We have met the enemy, and he is us."

Bruce Tinsley: "We have met the enemy, and he has a penis chin, something about the liberal media, blah blah blah, let's go to the pub."
