That damned Health Plan

What's Mallard raving about today?

Health Care, Government.

Maybe I've been at this too long. But I have no idea what the hell Mallard is talking about anymore. I mean, I know he's complaining about plans for a Public Insurance Option. But, what relevance does "buy one get one free" have for the Health Care debate?

Or is this just one of the most sophomoric metaphors ever?

There's a sort of irony in a duck squatting like dropped blubber in front of a television watching infomercials complaining about health insurance. I shudder to think of what conditions he's developing of his own free will that he foists costs off on the all the payers to whoever privately insures him.

And if the public option is so bad, you might want to start some investigative journalism into why congressmen and senators keep their gov't run taxpayer funded health insurance. If it's such a threat to lives, shouldn't we be concerned about the number of high level officials who already depend on it?

He's equating the "pro" side of the health care reform debate to the idiotic, overwrought sales pitch of a kitchen-gadget infomercial.

So, yes, this IS just one of most sophomoric metaphors ever. I mean, it's Bruce Tinsley. Isn't that then a given?

Looking for a meaning in a Mallard strip is like looking for journalistic integrity in a FOX News pundit.

Government-run health care insurance government-run health care.

One friken' panel on a Sunday. Cheap at half the price.

exanonymous: To be fair, congressmen and senators get a (very good) taxpayer funded insurance plan from a private insurance company. The private health insurance companies don't want a government run health insurance plan because they don't feel they can compete with the "public option." At least not and maintain their high profitability.

Can't our American form of government, the greatest in the world, serve the people at least as well as Canada, Japan, South Korea and the major nations of Europe?

Tinkley and his kind say "no".

The American democracy, to them, just doesn't work.

They must really hate the 4th of July!

Do you actually believe that you will receive the same gov't run health insurance plan and benefits as the congressmen and senators? Surely you cannot be that naive.

On page 425 of Obama's Health Care Bill, it says that EVERYONE on Social Security, (will include all Senior Citizens and SSI people) will go to MANDATORY counseling every 5 years to learn and to choose from ways to end your suffering (and your life). Health care will be denied based on age. 500 Billion will be cut from Seniors healthcare.

The only way for that to happen is to drastically cut health care, the oldest and the sickest will be cut first. Paying for your own care will not be an option. Yes, they are going to push suicide to cut Medicare spending! You may not be there yet but be sure and tell you parents if they are still living. That will surely ease their minds.

Educate yourself by listening to the following interview.

Fred Thompson interviews Betsy McCaughey regarding Obama's government run health care bill.

Let me get this straight...

"Health insurance reform includes a secret provision to euthanize the elderly? And it costs too much, but saving cost makes me angry!"

that's the best you can do with 80 hours of research?

Seriously, do such credulous & illogical tin foil hat wearers really walk among us?

"Anonymous" is presumably posting as "Anonymous" so that the black U.N. helicopters won't come to take them to the FEMA Boncentration Bamp.

I'd be curious to know what it really says on page 425. There's probably a graph of life expectancy versus hours spent watching daytime television, or a cute picture of duckies and bunnies, or something.

I'm pretty sure Anonymous hasn't actually SEEN this mysterious page 425, whatever it says, and it would never occur to them to - you know - go and check it for themselves. Ranty O'Spleen, drivetime talk host on KOOK-AM, said that's what it says, and that's good enough for Anonymous.

Anonycoward believes that Obama has a diabolical plan to force people to commit suicide.

That's about all that needs to be said, really. It's not so much that right-wingers have achieved a level of stupidity that we could never have dreamed possible (although they have, and then some); it's more that they're completely out of their tiny minds. There's no use in interacting with them in any way other than pointing and laughing, because there's no way that sane people can have any sort of dialogue with the barking mad. Perhaps Obama's ebil "kill the old people" plan should also include mandatory antipsychotics for Republicans. At which point, of course, they would stop being Republicans.

Continue to believe in your Messiah. Perhaps one day the truth will actually sink into your thick liberal skulls. But it will be too late to save the country.

Liberals refuse to believe the truth because in your little minds it is never true if it is information presented by a conservative.

Yeah, when all the old people are being conveyor belted into the termination factory to aid Obama's diabolical "seniors suck" scheme, we'll all slap our heads and say, Doh! If only we'd listened randumb anoymous troll on D'n'C, this could all have been avoided! But it will be TOOOOO LATE! Oh well--at least you'll have the satisfaction of toddling on back here and laughing at what foolish fools we are, so that's gotta be some consolation, right?

(incidentally, where the hell does this "Obamessiah" thing come from? Has any liberal ever expressed this thought? Or is it just that, authoritarian little creeps that they, they're incapable of conceiving of anyone generally supporting a politician without actually worshiping him/her?)

Tell you what, next time Republicans are right about something, or on the right side of an issue, (c.f. Iraq War, Abuse of Executive Power, Torture, etc.) I'll listen.

But it wasn't so long ago that people who were absolutely right about all those issues were being laughed and marginalized at by Republicans (at best) and called traitors (more typically).

You earn respect, it isn't a right which accrues because you listen to Rush Limbaugh, Bill O'Reilly, & Glenn Beck. They may reinforce your preconceptions every day; that doesn't make them (or you) right.

Another strip that would make more sense if it was Zippy the Pinhead. I think mostly because Bill Griffith has talent and Bruce Tinsley doesn't.

Oh, Free Republic. There's a reputable source.

Tell ya what, post a PDF of this alleged diabolical page 425, or else acknowledge that here is simply one more case of a reich-winger talking out his @$$.

Why am I not surprised that right-wingers are too stupid to understand the difference between hospice care and doctor-assisted suicide?

Hint, moron: my dad does hospice volunteer work. I know what it entails and what it does not entail, and one of the things it does not entail is putting anybody to death. But by all means, keeping making an ass of yourself by spouting off about issues you're too dumb and blinded by Obama-hate to understand.

GeoX, one of the GeoX boys. said...

...but let's just step back for a minute and appreciate the larger craziness at work here: Republicans are so blinded by irrational rage that they think it makes perfect sense that Obama (a mushy centrist at best) is promoting a plan to murder people to save cash. The specifics of why they think this are actually irrelevant, because any even halfway-rational person would realize that this is obviously a nonsensical claim. You might as well say that he wants to steal all the toys to ruin Christmas for the Whos down in Whoville. It's incredibly that people so stupid and childish were until recently in complete control of this country.

Wow, that article is like an army of strawmen.

A living will is not a mandate to die, it's an establishment of the medical treatments someone wishes to receive once they are beyond being able to express this for themselves. And the options that they make sound so threatening are actually the ones that prolong life. Like being a hospice.

It's also ironic to see people express outrage for old people over what would essentially empower them. Heaven forbid OLD PEOPLE would not leave themselves open to have the wishes and politics of others imposed on them.

What the tinfoil hat brigade refers to is "advanced care planning."

Good to see that Tinzanonymous and the sock on his left hand* continue to scratch away at the bottom of the barrel, not even noticing that long ago they dug through the wood, the turf beneath, and the soil beneath that, and are now wearing their fingers bloody against the bedrock.

Thanks for the link, Nick!

Advance care planning, per that bill, includes having a living will and durable power of attorney. These are things that we recommend for our troops before they go into a combat zone.

Therefore, per Anonymous Coward, our Armed Forces are encouraging our troops to commit suicide!
