That damned blessing

What's Mallard raving about today?

President Obama, Racism, Reverend Al Sharpton.

I had no idea this crisis had grown so acute...Mallard Fillmore truly has his finger on the pulse of...well, some sort of America that exists only in his own mind.

So far off on a tangent that it makes no sense at all.

Tinsley's just stringing together elements to...well, I'm not sure whether it's smear-by-association against Obama, or defense-by-proxy using Sharpton's bigotry to justify his own. Either way, it simply makes no damn sense.

It's foolish for Tinsley to bring up Sharpton, though; it's a reminder that, despite all the stupid, bigoted things said by different religious figures over the years, Tinsley has only mentioned Sharpton and Jackson...repeatedly.

Must be because they're liberal. Yeah, that's the ticket.

I have a love-hate relationship with South Park. But one of it's better moments was seen in one episode where at least the creators seem to understand what Mallard does not. It's when Stan, when trying to understand and commiserate with Token on racism, finally says "I don't get it."

I'm far from a fan of Sharpton, but when has he EVER suggested that he could sell "race indulgences" for cash? That's really more of a Pat Robertson thing.

There's really no basis for accusing a man who owes so much money to so many of being only in it for the money.

At least Tin Eye seems to know that he has to have his characters identify themselves by name in their own balloons, since he can't draw a convincing enough representation of anyone for any reader to reliably get it otherwise.

"That's what I, Richard Nixon, think, too!"

"And I, Abraham Lincoln, agree!"

"Count me -- David Merrick, the Elephant Man -- in on that!"

Given that Tinshley lives and dies by what Rush Limbaugh happens to be yammering on a day to day basis, this is really, really rich.

Tinsley, trying to justify your blackface with White strawmen is terrible, but using Black strawmen is inxredibly disgusting. You know nothing about race relations, or poverty and the, only, time you see racism is when you scream "nigger" and "rican" at guys who are smaller and weaker than you. You are so pathetic that you have to hide behind caricatures, rather than admit what you think.

20 years from now, everyone will have realized that your Republican ideas are absurd; all of your currently-70-to-80-year-old conservative politicians will be dead, and the country will, finally, be liberal. You, assuming you somehow manage to avoid dying from massive cirrhosis, or a lynching, will be a decrepit old man, screaming epithets at random guys in the street. Al Sharpton will be a controversial figure, respected by many, while everyone will hate you even more. Your ideas are dying, the world is heading towards massive social and technological improvement. I have good news, though: Thanks to your binge drinking and numerous enemies, you are very unlikely to see that day.

Regarding "Not That Anonymous's" comments yesterday: No, McGruder does not hate Whites. He is, if anything, self-hating, as he, always, portrays Black characters as violent idiots. White characters fare much better--I, frankly, thought he was a White racist until I saw a picture of him.

Word Verification: Ingsadus, the incredible level of sadism shown by Tinsley.

By amazing coincendence, $19.95 is how much it cost to get into a motivation speech seminar in Florida starring George W Bush.

I kid you not.

And the $19.95 was not an individual ticket; it was for your WHOLE OFFICE!

And ... It didn't sell out. Ticket price was cut to $4.95 and still only 10,000 attended ... with many OTHER speakers on the bill too.

It's hard to stop laughing - especially when Colbert praises it!

Many months of marching through the archives of Chris Muir's excerable Day by Day have taught me that right-wingers are actually writing about the Square Planet, an alternate reality where up is down, and causality is abandoned.

Unfortunately, a side effect of living on the Square Planet is that you don't know that you live there. Hence, our difficulties.

I know why yesterday's pissing match flared up (I offended a fanboy who couldn't resist the urge to "educate" me through lip-curled condescension); I don't understand, however, why anyone feels compelled to drag the issue into other threads.

It's true, Urkel-Aaron eventually turned the strip towards criticism of African-American culture (especially after it became the same three heads day after day, pasted over a few sloppy marker lines for backgrounds), but back when he was putting Bill Paterson-level effort into it, white school administrators were actively conspiring to keep Huey from learning he was super-intelligent, and Riley was delighted by white men fleeing from him in screaming please-don't-hurt-me terror because he said "s'up" to them.

Race-switching test still stands.

You're right; it was condescending, and I apologize. I still disagree with you strongly, but there was no call to couch it in such terms.

Anonyrast: when and if Stantis gets near a point, feel free to let us know. Also, remind me to consider clicking on your other link in the morning, when I won't be tossing and turning in bed over statements that are probably only "lies" in the same sense that "The sky is blue" is a lie. That is, they're only lies on the square Bizarro World, where chocolate is vanilla, 2-1=4, and everyone is an imperfect duplicate of Superman or one of his friends.

When Stantis goes after conservatives and Republicans, as he often does, Anonyrast gets so upset that he can't even look at his morning regimen of six-year-olds in swimsuits (mmmm, mmmm, mmm!)

As for the other video, I know it can't be Limbaugh or Beck or Hannity, because that rate is wayyyy too low. Maybe it's Anonyrast explaining to the police why he keeps parking his van so close to the local elementary school?

"Seven Lies" is a video of Obama talking, and a helpful crawl says "Lie Number One" and so on. No explanation, just 'lie lie lie." The GOP approach in a nutshell.

One commenter ventured the opinion that they aren't untruths, just goals that are still in the process of being met, leading to a frenzy of other commenters eager to paste content-free insults on them for such a notion.

Thank god for the internet, or these guys would be up on the roof with Dad's Uzi instead of in the basement with Mom's Apple.

Reminds me of the video a wingnut on a Daria message board linked me to, with Obama saying "They're calling me a socialist because I shared my sandwich at lunchtime" and the text comment "Keep your hands off my sandwich, you commie bastard"* as if the commenter's point were a foregone conclusion.**

One commenter ventured the opinion that they aren't untruths, just goals that are still in the process of being met, leading to a frenzy of other commenters eager to paste content-free insults on them for such a notion.

Actually, several commenters attempted to inject a note of sanity into the proceedings, only to find themselves on the receiving end of a wingnut zerg-rush (ke ke ke).

* Not exact quotes, but I'd have to watch the video again to get those, and frankly, life is short and brain cells are a non-renewable resource.
** Admittedly, the commenter's point is a foregone conclusion, but that's only because he refuses to wear a hat now that his momma's not around to require it of him.
