That damned Timing

What's Mallard raving about today?

Olympics, Generals, Polls, President Obama.

Most hilarious Mallard Fillmore ever.

Unintentionally, of course.

Since writing this, the President won the Nobel Peace Prize and his approval ratings have been increasing for a while now.

Can't wait for Mallard's Nobel Peace Prize as Affirmation Action screed to join this in the Republican Cognitive Dissonance Hall of Fame.

Has ANYONE called the IOC or various unnamed generals "racist?" Of course not--because Tinsley's a malignant, lying fucktard who is desperately, ineptly trying to distract attention from the right's constant, non-stop racism via this unbelievably pathetic, endlessly recurring "joke" about the left's alleged oversensitivity.

Of course, in reality, nobody on the left particularly cares about the Olympics thing one way or another--it's only wingnuts, dispaying the emotional maturity of the average spoiled four-year-old, who were gleefully shrieking their approval of the US getting snubbed. Christ, what a terrible fucking comic this is. And what a terrible fucking person Tinsley is.

Eh, I cared about the olympics coming to Chicago but I live around there, so it was more of a local thing to me. But yeah, this seems to be Tinsley claiming that any critic is branded a racist, thus far that hasn't really been the case though there are some who argue that race plays a role in it given how venemous some people have gotten (IE bringing guns to rallies and the like)

I just find it interesting that now that there is a democrat in the Whitehouse it's fine to criticize again, to say nothing of making veiled or overt threats against them. The thing is that this is honestly starting to look like the conservative movement has no real ideas and instead is merely lashing out to destroy any opposing viewpoint or challenger.

Like DaveyK mentioned, Obama's poll numbers are back up. Instead of focusing on poll blips that disappear when your cartoon is run, maybe you can draw one about polls with long term implications... like how the Republican party is 8 (or possibly even just 5) points away from having a 0 percent approval rating from everyone in the country born after 1980.

Hey, why hasn't there been a Mallard Fillmore book since 1996? Are book publishers racist too?

While we are on the subject, since when was Chicago such a terrorist harboring, fat, lazy beacon of liberal evil? I swear, I have never even heard anyone on either side of the political spectrum so blatantly and openly insult that city until Obama wanted the Olympics their. Well, except Mr. Whats-His-Face who tried to sell his house seat (a perfect capitalist!) and is no longer relevant anymore.

Can anyone from that area tell me if Chicago citizens en masse say they were insulted with the flings they got from pundits?

Nice big fat straw man.

I never heard racism come up with the Olympic bid. Searching for it just comes up with unintentionally hilarious blogs where the person suspects that it will come up and proceeds to counter it. And it never did come up, mostly because Obama and company are not total idiots and they too know things like that black people live in Rio and are the committee.

I don't think anyone thinks the general was racist either. People have opinions about what Obama should do, but racism? Meh. Not there.

Racist polls? Maybe something there as it depends on where you are polling. For instance, I would be suspicious of any polls conducted solely in Indiana. Even though Tinsley claims racism is dead without ever having run out or converted the KKK members and leader.

Oh, if only Tinsley had drawn the standard Mallard smug-smirk on this strip, that would have been SO perfect.

Earth to Tinsley: your two-week lead time is killing you. Trudeau is running rings around you (you're probably reading today's Doonesbury and urinating all over yourself in uncontrollable fury right now, phoning your editor and begging him to hold the strips again) and you look like a bigger and bigger fool every day.

...and even if you DIDN'T have two weeks' lead time, your dead-horse beating and whiny nyah-nyah attitude don't help.

Because it's a librul conspiracy!

Obama wasn't the only one who made a personal pitch for Chicago to be infested with the Olympics. There was also that George W. Bush guy.

George W. Who? Wasn't he a librul?

Oh, and yeah, those terrible terrible racists, picking such a whitey-white enclave as Rio de Fricking Janeiro. No one tell Tinshley they have brown people in Brazil, at least until the liquor stores in Alkietown, Indiana, have had a chance to restock.

Michael --

Thanks for that link; it made my day. I just love the smell of schadenfreude in the morning.

Reminds me of an international poll on attitudes towards the US as we approached the end of the Darth/Chimpy maladministration. One of the countries polled (IIRC, it was Turkey, but I could be wrong) reported a favorable rating for W that was less than the margin of error.

In other words, it was statistically possible that the favorable rating had actually gone below zero and into negative numbers.

And Tinkley just can't figure out why all them damn furriners say nice things about Obama.

WV: bedned. What Rethugs such as Vitter, Craig, Foley et al. would like to do to Mr. Flanders.

Canada? Is this why Mallard refuses to release his birth certificate?

If Obama had not gone to talk up Chicago's bid, or if he had gone AND Chicago had won, is there any reason to think today's "comic" have attacked him for that?

I have had enough of Tinsley's claim that racism is an overused word. Fuck you, Tinsley, racism exists throughout the country and world. I hope, one day, an angry Black man--or, as you would call him, a nigger--tortures you and injects you with carcinogens until you suffer horrible fatal oncogens! I know you do not know what carcinogen or oncogen mean--suffice it to say that both are very bad!

You are an incredibly racist, delusional psycopath and sociopath. One of the symptoms of long-term alcohol abuse is delirium, and you, obviously, suffer from it. I have said this before, and I will say it again: Everyone, in the world, should be offended by the idea that racist is an overused word.

Word Verification: Batisins, the creatures Tinsley sees when he is delirious.

I enjoy seeing that everyone who is young opposes the Republicans. I feel renewed hope that all of our censorship and neophobia will end, and an era of grand technological advancement will begin, when the current generation of politicians dies and is replaced by the next. I suspect that is the vicious cycle: A new generation of politicians takes power, and, having been raised with modern technology, no longer fears it, so it stops the censorship. It grows older, new technology is invented, the aging politicians fear what they do not understand, and censor the advanced technology, then, they die and the process restarts. I hope our generation is wise enough to break us out of the cycle. Books, music, radio, television, computers, video games, the Internet, cloning, genetic engineering, and robots all suffered from this cycle, and I would hate to see the next major technological breakthrough have the same problem.

Uh...I'm not usually one to complain about over-the-top rhetoric, but that's really a bit much, dude.

I am sorry for exaggerating, but the theme of racism being a dead pointless concept makes me extremely angry. I was venting my rage in the stream of consciousness, rather than rationally considering my statement. I think, perhaps, I should try to calm down, before my blood pressure hits the quadruple digits.

Wow -- another instant dye job for Mallard! (I'm guessing Brucie was just too lazy to leave a "halo" along the edges of Mallard's head to keep it separate from the black background.)

You know, when Harlan Ellison was writing his TV criticism column "The Glass Teat", he did a harrowing two-parter titled "The Common Man" -- and Tinsley could easily have been one of the subjects of that column. A typical characteristic of "The Common Man", per Ellison:

"He is the man who, because he PERSONALLY never lynched a nigger, believes there is no such thing as prejudice."

You joke, but I've seen conservative nuts declare Dubya a liberal. "JOMG, he spends money, so he am librul!" seems to be the entire case there.

dlauthor said...

Oh, I'm all too aware of the "Bush was a seekrit not-conservative" meme among the woo-woo brigade. Either because he spent money (on wars and tax cuts, but never mind), or because he refused to wall off the southern border and order brown people shot on sight, or simply because he pointed out, authoritatively, how made-of-fail modern conservatism really is, and we can't have that, can we?

Fortunately, we still have the likes of Tinshley and Anonypederast (mmmm, mmmm, mmmm!) to keep up the made-of-fail quotient, so there's that.

34 words, and 3 are "racist." I get that that's the "joke," but if 10% of your conversation with a police officer was "I swear I haven't been drinking!"....I'll bet the cop would think that you were a drunk.

(I'm a manager in a liquor store, and the more that a customer loudly proclaims that he has no drinking problem, the more he does--yeah, I'm looking at you, Jim Beam guy who never changes his clothes. Worse, I'm also smelling you)

Fox hunt special commentary.

The Obama administration is saying Fox isn't a news organization? How dare they? Why, next they'll be saying the sky isn't yellow, or that taking an oxycontin-addicted talk-show host's offer of candy in exchange for getting in his van isn't a good idea.

Man you really are a prime example of a liberal over the edge.

Coming as that does from a clown who thinks he's performing some grand service in defending another clown who engages in anti-Semitic caricature yet constantly bays that he's not a bigot, IHCA really should consider that a compliment.

Not a "badge of honor," as a butthurt Dan Quayle liked to describe the jeers of millions of people laughing at his rank goober stupidity, just a compliment.

Kip W said...

Over the edge, yes. And did you notice how another liberal promptly called him on it? Right in the same forum?

Not that we're unique. I expect to hear conservatives denouncing Fox News any day now, when the numbers get low enough.
