That damned Snap

What's Mallard raving about today?

Terrorists, Americans, The Media

So, if I understand this correctly, Mallard's main complait is that after the Fort Hood shootings, America did not react with a wave of pants-wetting and invade a country which had nothing to do with the shootings?

Or is it that the perpetrator was arrested and is going to be tried for his crimes rather than being subjected to immediate vigilante justice?

Because, frankly, I fail to see how anyone with an ounce of humanity could be producing this.

"...offensive to terrorists!"

I see what you did there, Bruce.

Tell us again how you're not a filthy bigot?

Frankly, it is alarming how fast some people are to label this a terrorist attack without anyone actually claiming credit in order to advance political goals. Almost 1 in 4 people on the planet is a practicing Muslim, so if the link was even a tenth as strong as what neocons would have Americans believe, all Americans who aren't Muslims should be living in bunkers.

And I'm not worried about offending terrorists. I'm worried about labeling 23% of the world as dangerous enough to warrant profiling because of one American in Fort Hood. And you know, the whole profiling thing worked out SO well for Japanese-Americans in the past.

Oh, but didn't you know? Time editorialist and Serious Person Nancy Gibbs said that of course Hasan was a terrorist. Because he was a Muslim, and--you know--scared her. Ergo, terrorist.

Tinsley just moving with the herd on this one.

I know how to prevent terrorism, let's ban minorets! That should do it!...

Tinsley really suffers from the publishing delay with this series.

Except for those with real connections to the situation, the public has pretty much moved on, I'd say.

Tin Eye is upset with liberals for not following his script, which calls for liberals to say things he can be upset with. Because if we say them, then it's our fault he drinks.

This sorta garbage mighta worked back when white guys like me were the majority in our great nation. America is becoming even more of a melting pot than before, and those who live by labeling each new group as evil will become less and less relevant. It can't happen too soon ...

In earlier days, Tinkley would have denounced the Irish and Welch gangs(see Jared Lewis' "History of Gangs"). Irish "terrorists" known as Fenians enlisted in the Union and Confederate Army to learn the skills they needed to throw the higher-technology imperialists off their land ... no doubt impelled by their religion of violence (our Catholic crucifix specifies the depiction of a tortured body, unlike protestant denominations which prefer a more abstract symbol ... imagine what Tinshley coulda made out of that!)

The depressing part is that by by screaming terrorist and screaming hate what they do is actually play into the hands of terrorists. It makes people look at our middle eastern servicemen and women with contempt and suspicion. It also implies that we (or at least a large number of our population) hate those who practice Islam or are from the middle east. This sort of thing is great for their propaganda.

It's kind of hard to fault Brucie for spewing this nonsense. After all, he's just relaying what the Dograti told him when he was coming off that bender three weeks ago.

We can only hope Tinsley is man enough to applaud Obama after he hears him declare in his speech tonight he's sending another 30,000 troops to fight the neo-cons' endless war against "terror" in Afganistan. And some people thought Bush lost the election!

Amazing-but-true WV: whited; Tinsley's solution for making the armed forces Muslimproof.

Gee! How can we show the world that the American ways of justice and democracy work if we allow terrorists to be convicted from a trial by a jury of their peers and through due process of law.

Damned PC liberals!

Apparently, the MSM is represented here using an Apple II computer.

Muslims: 23% of the world population
Americans: 5% of the world population

Let's pretend Ducky is spot on right here: WHY would it be a bad idea to not piss off a group that outnumbers us 4 to 1?

Kip W said...

Ducky is Right: those groups aren't mutually exclusive. Some of the 5% intersects (hm) with some of the 23%, and so on.
